We received an update from Rural Health Care Initiative’s 2026 FoSL-supported project of improving community birth waiting homes in Tikonko and Gondama, Tikonko Chiefdom, Bo District. Project leaders told us that the repairs are going well and will be completed soon!

Mental health care continues to be critically under-resourced in Sierra Leone. The work that Mr. Akpona is part of helps address this major concern and support those in need in Salone. Make sure you register in advance for this very interesting talk!

Malone CHP has faced security concerns due to thieves trying to steal hospital property at night. Another problem in the hospital is loose animals (goats, sheep, chickens, dogs) entering inside the premises. Their feces is a potential source of disease.

Hi FoSL Members! The FoSL Board approved another project this month in Malone Village, Tonkolili, Sierra Leone. The FoSL grant of $4,000 is for the construction of a cement perimeter fence surrounding the hospital compound.

We just received an update as well as a statement of gratitude from the Maternal and Newborn Health Conference and Training Program held at Magburaka Hospital from January 19–23, 2026. FoSL supported this training with $4,000 in late 2025.

FoSL voted last month to send $4,000 to rehab the school in Titimbaya that had major damage from a storm. We have worked with this school before, approving a grant 2 build a latrine there about three years ago. There are 250 students in this school. This school serves 6 villages.

We are excited to announce another FoSL-funded grant for the Bagbo Prosperity Center in Jimmi Bagbo, Bo District. This $4,000 grant will go towards purchasing and installing a robust solar power system and ten additional laptops. We wish them the best of luck!
