Room quality matters the most when playing with distance. Your room needs to have solid treatment if you want to place the mic further away.

Get closer when you want something more intimate or for quieter lines. Get further away for a more natural sound. Microphones pick up details we don’t often hear in real world scenarios. Taking away some of the detail with distance rounds it off and makes it sound more natural.

My "daily" meh advice for #voiceactor #VO Ignore the pinky to thumb rule. Mic distance is based on the quality of the room, the mic type and model, and the intentions of the delivery.

@whytecold Classes > room treatment > equipment Classes matter above all. Most of your budget will go into room treatment. Get actual acoustic panels and bass traps, not those awful little foam squares. Equipment will depend on what part of the industry you want to break into.

It was nice getting back into animation style work. I’ve spent so long working on nonvisual media that it was a bit of a challenge to get back into the workflow.

@SoftSodaASMR I've helped run large communities, streams, and discords. One of my main rules was to never let someone become a problem. We banned people instantly if they seemed like they'd be an issue. It's always worth it.

The other day I quickly banned a guy for joining and being dislikable off the bat and more streamers should feel comfortable just banning people if they give you an immediate ick

@MokabeanVT I spent years with Adobe and premiere pro. Eventually switched to DaVinci Resolve and I'm not missing much.
