When I wrote for the AV Club they sent me to do this Random Rules with Moby before a show, I think at Bowery Ballroom. The idea was you'd take their iPod and shuffle it and talk about the first five songs that came up. When I got there, Moby's publicist told me that he "forgot" his iPod. So instead Moby exquisitely curated a perfectly diverse and just-obscure-enough mix of songs precision calibrated to transmit the image of himself and his taste that he wanted to put out there.
