Grieving In NOLA

This is the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me. My first tattoo at 40+ in honor of my best friend Lauren, who was murdered by her husband. Her life is so much more than how it ended. She wrote this in lieu of a Christmas card, in 2016:

THE REVOLUTION BOUT TO BE TELEVISED, YOU PICKED THE RIGHT TIME FOR THE WRONG GUY.

I brought the note my mother wrote me into a tattoo parlor a week later, and this is the beauty that came from it. She is my North Star. I feel her with me and hear her voice when it's needed the most. ~Marisa Fotieo

My mom was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2001 & had a double stem cell transplant. There was a 4% chance she would survive. She wrote my sister, my brother & me each a note in case she didn't make it. She ended up living for 17 beautiful years, dying on April 18, 2019.

Another year without you...

No one deserves to grow old, I guess.

One of the cruelest things about grief is that I can't call the person I call when I'm a wreck.

I remember where I was the last time we spoke. The last time we saw each other. I just miss her so intensely.

Every day.

The verdict and sentencing were like winning the lottery. But nobody really won. 'Guilty' nor 'life in prison' can bring a person back to life. My person.

It takes up SO MUCH FUCKING SPACE

Grief has come and filled the space you used to occupy. I don't like that one bit.

I'm Tired I'm tired of being strong, being home in silence, of no one caring, of crying. I'm tired of the loneliness, of no love, of no purpose. I'm tired of no one understanding the pressure, the grief, the emptiness. I'm tired of life without her. I'm just... tired. #Grief

5 years sober today. if you even care

I really miss being able to just pick up the phone and talk without niceties and to have the person on the other end genuinely happy just to talk to me about whatever. Just to hear my voice.

When things used to happen, I always knew who was the first person I'd call. Now I have to think about it. I hate that for me. So much. #grief #loss
