Egypt and Eritrea are tightening their grip on eastern Sudan. Cairo and Asmara are training and backing tribal militias loyal to Burhan’s army, turning the region into a forward line of containment against Ethiopia. The aim is to lock down Red Sea approaches and keep Sudan oriented away from Addis Ababa. While the civil war drags on and communities in the east face mounting violence and displacement, these two neighbours are quietly expanding their influence through proxy forces. The fighting has become secondary to carving out strategic advantage along Sudan’s eastern flank. Sudanese territory is once again being used as an arena for regional power plays. The result is more instability, deeper militia entrenchment, and a war that serves outside interests far more than it serves Sudanese people. Sudan’s future cannot be decided by neighboring capitals chasing Red Sea leverage and influence over Ethiopia. The country needs breathing room, not another layer of external military entanglement. hornreview.org/2026/06/19/egy…

The genesis of the genocidal Sudanese Armed Forces in their current form is rooted in the ideological and institutional project of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood. Over decades, the movement entrenched itself within the Sudanese state during the rule of Omar al-Bashir, leaving its ideology and organizational methods deeply rooted within the military establishment. It is no coincidence that Abdel Fattah al-Burhan stands at the head of this structure today. Since the outbreak of the war in April, extensive documented evidence has shown that Burhan’s conduct has served the return of the Muslim Brotherhood, demonstrating that the movement remains present within the command structure and institutional culture of the Sudanese Armed Forces. #KeepEyesOnSudan #Sudan
