Honestly not the largest fan of everything he is saying here. Games like Nier and 13 Sentinels would never exist under this mindset.

Tbh what actually makes me mad about the "can you call yourself a fan of a game you've never played" discourse is really just that people want to be part of a fandom more than they care about the thing itself, and I think that's kind of an awful way to approach art

i’ve never understood the whole thing about how “persona 5 fans don’t play the game!!” because honestly it’s not really necessary to play it to enjoy the story and such?? not everyone vibes with the gameplay anyway
