Today is #DisabilityPayGap day, the day when Disabled workers stop getting paid for the rest of the year. In 2025 Disabled workers earn £78.40 less a week then non-disabled workers. Disabled workers earn £4,081 less a year than everyone else. The gap is more than the average house spends on food a week - £64.30. pcs.org.uk/news-events/ne…

Q5. What is one thing you would tell someone who was newly diagnosed just before Christmas, with all the Chaos and change in routine that Christmas seems to bring? #GBDoc #PeerSupport #Diabetes

@GbdocTChost A4 Answer to any comment about food is either "as long as I've got my insulin" or something sarcastic like " no, I'll need to have two now". It does get tiring being told what I "can't eat" because those with other ways of managing BG should avoid/minimise certain foods. #GBDoc

Q4. I feel at Christmas there is ALOT more comments of "should you be eating that" or "can you have one of these" with all the extra sweet treats that are about! How do you respond to these comments... #GBDoc #Stigma

@GbdocTChost A3 Still a bit cautious with dosing for food when drinking alcohol. Always ignore the first drink but carb count drinks after that. General drinking advice - Don't try and keep up with the skinny girls. Absorb the drinks with greasy carbs. #GBDoc

Q3. Christmas time can also mean that there is more alcohol around! Do you do anything differently with your diabetes management when drinking alcohol? Any tips for newly diagnosed? #GBDoc

@GbdocTChost A2b... A (#MagicHand) says "more mince pies means more insulin". Just keep counting those carbs. #GBDoc

@GbdocTChost A2 Generally meals out don't bother me or my #t1d - just don't underestimate the insulin. Meals at funny times or promised but never happening are the biggest problem. Have a great set of diabuddies in work who understand when out that when we need to eat we need to eat! #GBDoc

Q2. The run up to Christmas can be busy with nights out, meals out, parties etc. How do you manage your Diabetes during this time? #GBDoc

@GbdocTChost A1 We have a well established rotating pattern between both sets of parents and around the various houses. This year it's my family to us on Christmas Day (8 of us) and A's family also to us on Boxing Day. Looking forward to having everyone in the new house. #GBDoc
