On this 13th day, of the 13th anniversary of working in critical care, I find no better time to announce that my book, 13 Rules of ICU Nursing, is officially published and available for purchase of print or download. This has been an absolute dream come true. Working with Kendall Hunt to pitch my vision of this book, was nothing short of incredible and I’m so thankful for their unending support. In 2017, I jotted down 13 rules for all icu nursing as I saw it happening and had a vision of someday writing a book on them. About the book: this book will not: tell you how to correct a potassium level, nor will it explain the pathophysiology of anything. This book will: provide so many other valuable insights, lessons and tools that are not only applicable to the student, but also to the new grad, and those with years of experience. There are so many stories I have pulled from my own experiences in life, both in and out of nursing, going as far back as high school (shout out to those district playoffs). The book is full of color photos, highlights, 100+ pages and 13 full chapters of it all. Blue bracelets are as much of an ick as wearing Pink is for breast cancer. You need to do more than wear a color for solidarity to create change.

A few beginning thoughts: 1) Algorithms should exist for political ads everywhere like community fact checks on @X. Including the ads on tv, YouTube, etc. 2) political surveys should be scrutinized as polling and sampling methods have changed and a high failure rate was seen in Iowa. 3) increased transparency over the election survey process is imperative as evidence-based science becomes an increasingly important topic in the next few months. 4) increasing transparency around this process and increasing the voice and opinion of all Americans will be pivotal for election cycles to come. #forwardtogether
