A big thanks to The Economist and Economist Impact for hosting The Future of Food in London this week. A thoughtful and well-timed conversation on where the global food system goes next.
A few threads that stood out:
• Gene editing is quickly becoming a regulatory and trade question, not just a science story.
• Financing real farm-level modernization remains one of the hardest gaps to close.
• Farmers are being asked to deliver on climate, nutrition and affordability simultaneously, and their voice has to stay central.
From the @FAO , @FertilizerNews , @Cargill , Mowi, @Nutreco , @USSEC , @AgreenaApp Unifrutti,@PairwisePL and the @SeedFed , the range of voices reflected just how interconnected the system really is.
As we continue work on Agriculture’s Next Season for The Washington Post, it was valuable to step out of interview mode and listen.
