@jordannoone PRECISION, helps if you emphasize the importance of that. How zero is your zero, stop lying to yourself

If you are trying to get into engineering or you are an aspiring engineer, here is what an engineer drawing should look like today. There is no standard in terms of how to mark the dimensions outside of "ensure you get them all". Some people like to make a 0 line & start from there, but that's not my style personally.

What’s best/worst about this is both @elonmusk and @PalmerLuckey have fucking nothing to say. Cowards. Not patriots. Can’t risk those defense dollars though, I get it.

@kdaigle @ThePrimeagen Also runs-on built a far more reliable self-hosted option than GitHub has and it’s one fucking guy. What the fuck??

@kdaigle @ThePrimeagen This is bullshit, control plane costs are minimal evidenced by how easy and minimal it is to self host GitLab. Also, how easy it is to self host fucking GitHub and how little actions adds to overhead. The enterprise page doesn’t explain at all how my experience is improved!

@realErikDPrince High trust, lol. Yes, I would trust nobody tries to grab one gun and run away with it in a room full of gun nuts that probably know each other. Fucking dumb shit on this platform.

Wyoming is what America was. I had the chance to glimpse an old school "high trust" society this weekend at the Cody Wyoming, Winchester antique gun show. Vendors whose tables were covered with $100K plus of highly pilferable antique firearms would step out for a smoke or to walk their dog and leave only a sign "back in 10" on their unguarded table. There was no crime nor foreign invaders. It's easy to forget this level of law and order was the norm and not an exception. At high noon all attending paused for the National Anthem played on an old cavalry bugle. Our Republic is worth defending from those who would wreck this.

sucks that a new laptop would have a mechanical failure after only a few weeks, but sending a service technician to your house is great. I expected she'd be without her laptop for a few weeks while it got repaired. Nice.

I've talked a lot of shit about windows laptops. When my wife's laptop touchpad stopped clicking after 4 weeks I rolled my eyes and said "this is why you should have bought a MacBook". But Dell actually sent a technician to our house to repair it. That's impressive service.

@SJFriedl @jessfraz @j_d_noone I'm sure you already understood this, but to clarify machine-api is not a using USB stick, my MK3 is plugged in via a USB cable to some computer running the machine-api which exposes its own API. We use that API from the design studio which tries to discover it on your local net.

Right now my workflow is that Fusion fires up the Prusa Slicer directly from the application, and my slicer knows about my printer and sends the job over the network. I'd go nuts if I had to use a USB stick to transfer. This was the case with my MK4 and my prior Sindoh printers (from S. Korea, since discontinued in the US market).

@SJFriedl @jessfraz @j_d_noone Nice, I've got an MK3 that I've used to build the USB connection side. Haven't messed with newer Prusas so I would absolutely love to get more testing/support for those variants MK4/XL. Could be that USB mostly works out of the box, but web interface will need some work.

I'm keeping super detailed notes about my experience and will be submitting that once I'm a little farther down the road. I have a small thing I want to design for around my desk - a little holder for some eye-drop bottles - which is not super complicated but more than a cube with a hole in the middle. First will do it in Fusion 360 to knock it out - and mark my time - then repro in Zoo and see how it goes. Will be a reasonable end-to-end test of design through 3D printer.

@elonmusk I’ll rephrase if you will, how far would the US go to return to pre-war borders? I’d argue pretty fucking far. Stop being a douchebag that only supports freedom when it’s convenient.

There have been two years of death in trenches for no meaningful changes in the borders. Hundreds of billions of dollars have been spent, with much it going to feed corruption. The fundamental moral question is this: How many more years of death in trenches and billions of dollars of corruption do you want? The moral answer is zero. VP Vance is right.
JD Vance@JDVance

Behind the tough guy language, there is no argument here. What's the firepower advantage of the respective parties to the conflict? Manpower? How might that change with further NATO action, and how are you proposing to change it? As it turns out, I'm right and Joshi is wrong, though maybe he believes the underlying dynamics *could* change in the future. He's welcome to make that argument.

Today I completed a quarterly, full-day customer support rotation, a program that every exec & VP at @vercel is enrolled in. If you got a reply from a nice fella named 'Martin' today, it was yours truly 😁 One fascinating learning is that our strides in support AI & @v0 have had a non-obvious effect: many of the cases were hard. They required a lot of analysis, came from large production codebases, and involved lots of realtime data. For us, this actually means we'll double down on Support & Field Engineering. As AI takes care of the easy stuff, support cases that make it through will contain more and more high-quality signal that inform product changes and framework design improvements (I ended up writing down a couple dozen ideas over the course of the day). Soon you'll get our CTO and CPO, so… give us the best you've got 🫡
