"One Nation Under God" wasn't a motto of the Founders, it was added to the Pledge in 1954. Many of the Founders were Deists who didn't particularly align to any particular Christian faith and
Jefferson himself, who wrote the Declaration, didn't believe in the divinity of Jesus.

@itsme_urstruly Yes. They drastically increased a travel requirement that made the job not possible for me at that point in my life. They disclosed this after 40 minutes of interview time. I asked them to remove me from consideration.

This one surprised me. Teen girls now say "having lots of money" is important in life at the same rate as boys. There used to be a huge gap.

ICYMI, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the talking points for a memo which sought to gut the Voting Rights Act—for Reagan, in 1982. It has been his lifelong project to disenfranchise Black people.

When I say the country is institutionally rigged for Republicans I’m talking about how Virginia gets their maps struck down after a two year process involving multiple legislative sessions and a statewide referendum but Tennessee can just decide not to enfranchise Memphis anymore

@alexiwisteria @CatholicCharm I had one like that, too. I miss him so much. He believed everybody had a story and a valuable viewpoint, and there were very few things that couldn’t be solved by talking things through.

@CatholicCharm My dad was logical and steady. He’d ask questions instead of dismissing my ideas as emotional. After understanding what I was actually thinking, he’d give feedback. I still value his advice more than anyone else’s because he listened before he judged.

Good… but why do we have to suffer under these relentless back-and-forth court decisions? It’s exhausting.
Just let women talk to their own doctors and make their own decisions about their own bodies and their own health care.

@MibshaD My state has a near total abortion ban (no exceptions for rape, incest, age/mental capacity/health of pregnant person) from conception. Supermajority GOP here just passed a bill that excludes certain conditions from legal definition of abortion. Contradicting medical definitions.

Just so we're clear: the pregnancy that ends up in the wrong spot, like the fallopian tube? The one that will NEVER turn into a baby and will rupture and kill your wife, daughter, or sister? Terminating that fetus is also an abortion, and they want to ban those, too.
