@KilogramHours You could focus the attention on specific things, such as cancellable moves, or 'spammable' moves like Oly Dtilt / Zetter Shine, or any other potential problem move, and that would be able to avoid Flug as a system interfering with most of the systems of the game.

I'm STILL not trying to be a doomer, and the recent patch WAS fantastic, but I once more want to echo my opinion on Floorhug in #RivalsofAether2 #RoA2 from a bit ago. Like, at the least, could I see what the dev justification for leaving Flug is? I want to understand their POV.

I don't like being a doomer for the games I play, but I do want to throw one onto the pile and express my dissatisfaction with how Floorhugging (Flug) is currently implemented in #RivalsofAether2 #RoA2. To preface, YES, I do understand there are ways to play around Flug. (1/?)

@KilogramHours Well, yes, that would definitely happen if the *only* change was Flug removed. But I do feel that either Drift DI, or selective application of Flug to specific problem moves (rather than applying to every single move in the game) would go a long way in avoiding this from happen?

@JohnNumbers I mean if u remove that then I would say you would also remove Amsah Tech and Wall Teching even when the move is supposed to send away. Which sure I guess, but feels kinda incoherent of a stance. I just feel like that would make the game really boring and touch of death focused

@KilogramHours I am going to tack on one complaint, in that there are situations in this game where attempting to Flug a spike/strong can sometimes allow the defender to FHTech, which makes the moves that are meant to beat Flug, just... not do so, at least decisively, at times.

@KilogramHours Fully agreed. Removing Flug wholesale without changing anything else about the game would likely present its own buffet of new problems. I mentioned it elsewhere, but two ideas I had to address this were re-introducing Drift DI, or selectively applying Flugability to moves.

@Cherrynasb The other would be to selectively apply to each move whether or not it could be Flugged. (Generally this would be cancellable moves and 'spammable' moves like Oly Dtilt/Shine) You could have a system to address problematic moves without it overarching the entire game's functions.

@Cherrynasb One WOULD be simply re-introducing Drift DI to the game. It may be a bit unintuitive, but it would be similar to Flug's intended effect of allowing the defender to 'fight back,' as it were, but without forcefully wrenching momentum away from the attacker.

All of the new additions the game's been getting are cool and will help it do well... but this one thing REALLY feels like it's making the game constantly hemorrhage. I could be off the mark, of course, but this is what my experience and intuition is telling me.

Again, I'm not trying to be a doomer, but I wholeheartedly believe that Floorhug, specifically, already has/is going to make people consistently quit the game over its lifespan. And I don't want that. I want Rivals to do well.

-and if I see something that might be negatively affecting the experience and potentially bleeding players, then I feel it’s important to bring attention to it. I still love playing Rivals *in spite of* Flug, but it’s important to have conversations about these kinds of things.

I think this is a bit extreme of a take, but there is a sentiment in there that I want to echo. If I ever complain about something like Flug, it’s *because* I love Rivals 2. I want the game to be as good as it can be in terms of gameplay and player activity-

This game was gonna fail from the beginning ngl Honestly I wish this was a surprise. When this game was in beta so many people complained about floorhug the removal of drift di and a million other things The devs ignored it and kept going straight ahead into debt
