@zaurs You mean the same special that got help from Turkish special forces and Zionists to win against a small less equipped local defence force but still took heavy losses? You’re not the most powerful military. Everyone knows Azeris won because of Turkish and Israel’s support 🤡

New York Mayor Mamdani published the text given to him by the Armenian lobby without examining it. No Armenians were killed on April 24. Until World War I, Armenians rebelled approximately forty times. During World War I, taking advantage of the Ottoman Empire’s engagements with the Russian army in the East, they took the final step toward independence. They significantly impaired Ottoman supply and provisioning lines. In addition, by forming armed bands, they started to massacre civilian Turks, Kurds, Circassians, and Arabs living in Eastern Anatolia. When the Ottoman government, despite all its efforts, was unable to prevent the onslaughts of Armenian terrorists, it published the Circular of April 24, which closed Armenian committees such as Dashnaksutyun and Hunchak, and led to the arrest of individuals confirmed to be associated with these organizations. No conflicts occurred during the arrests of April 24, and no prominent Armenian was killed. However, the arrest of the leadership cadre of the committees rendered the potential rebellion leaderless and ineffective. Prominent Armenians did not heed the warnings of Talat Pasha and other statesmen to give up their dream of independence. Armed bands continued their massacres. They killed thousands of Muslims by supporting the Russian army during the siege of Van, which ended with its invasion on May 15. In response to this situation, the Ottoman government was forced to enact deportation measures on 27 May. As the late historian İlber Ortaylı stated, the Armenian deportation of 1915 was not a precaution against a possible rebellion. Rather, the Act of Deportation in 1915 was a response to an actual rebellion and collaboration with the enemy army, and it was inevitable under the circumstances of the time. It was planned that 924,158 people would be deported. However, not all of them were deported. Approximately 650,000 Armenians were deported and transported. Six months later, the deportations were halted. Therefore, the number of deported Armenians was lower. Also, after the Armistice of Mudros in 1918, a significant portion of the deported Armenians had returned to Anatolia. When deportation became inevitable, security measures were taken for the lives and property of the deported Armenians. However, due to either the persecutions of Armenians against the Muslim populace in the hinterland or the personal inadequacies of some individuals, some unwanted events occurred. The Ottoman government investigated the crimes committed during the deportation and punished those responsible.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. As we honor the 1.5 million Armenians murdered by the Ottoman Empire across modern-day Turkey, Syria, and Armenia, we must refuse to let history repeat itself. In 2020, the military forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey attacked the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh. In 2023, Azerbaijan expelled over 100,000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, continuing the genocidal campaign that had begun over 100 years prior. On this day of remembrance, we reaffirm the right of the Armenian people — and all people — to freedom, safety, and self-determination.

The first visit to Azerbaijan and our seventh meeting in more than four years. Our relations are at a very high level, and what matters is that they are built on respect. I thank President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev @presidentaz for this visit, for our conversation, and most importantly, for our agreements. Today, Ukraine and Azerbaijan signed 6 documents across various areas. The key is the defense-industrial complex – we will develop and strengthen our cooperation. We also discussed the continuation of energy initiatives and the launch of new ones. I am grateful to Azerbaijan for 11 packages of energy assistance, including during the last difficult winter. Special attention was given to humanitarian support for Ukraine and our efforts to restore peace. I thank Azerbaijan for its support of our sovereignty and territorial integrity. I appreciate the readiness for deep cooperation, including in the defense sector. We have taken a very serious step forward, and new documents will be signed soon.

I began my visit to Azerbaijan by meeting our expert team, which is sharing Ukraine’s experience in protecting the skies. Ukraine is always committed to cooperation that strengthens both our partners and us. We have unique security expertise that can benefit other nations. We are already working along three directions: the Middle East and the Gulf region, the European Union, and substantive work with Azerbaijan. In addition to security, we will work today to strengthen cooperation in energy, the economy, and the humanitarian track. Glory to Ukraine!

Today, in Gabala, Azerbaijan, we held an open dialogue with civil society representatives from Armenia within the framework of the Peace Bridge initiative. Our discussions lasted for more than two hours. As in other spheres of bilateral relations between the two countries, confidence-building measures—particularly Track 2 diplomacy—are also inherently bilateral in nature. I once again emphasized that Azerbaijan’s agenda is solely focused on peace. We remain fully committed to the Washington agenda. This commitment is not merely declarative or confined to paper; rather, concrete and pragmatic steps are being taken to strengthen the peace agenda. These include bilateral trade, transit shipments to Armenia via Azerbaijan, and people-to-people contacts, all of which reflect the concept of the economic dividends of peace. The implementation of the TRIPP project promises new opportunities for Armenia as a transit country. At a time when global developments—often described as resembling a Third World War—and the ongoing situation in the Middle East underscore the importance of established peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. At the same time, it was noted during the meeting that the presence of revanchist forces in Armenia’s domestic political landscape, along with their calls for war, risks dragging the region back into turbulence—similar to the late 1980s and early 1990s. However, seeing that Armenian society itself aspires to peace gives us hope that those acting as spoilers will ultimately fail in their attempts to undermine the peace agenda.

Ermənistan tərəfindən azərbaycanlılara qarşı törədilmiş çoxsaylı ağır və amansız müharibə cinayətlərindən biri olan Ağdaban qətliamından 34 il ötür. 1992-ci ildə 130 evdən ibarət Kəlbəcərin Ağdaban kəndi erməni silahlı birləşmələri tərəfindən tamamilə dağıdılmış, yaşayış məntəqəsi yerlə-yeksan edilmişdir. 779 nəfər dinc sakin ağır işgəncələrə məruz qalmış, 67 nəfər isə xüsusi qəddarlıqla qətlə yetirilmişdir. Bu faciə Azərbaycan xalqına qarşı törədilmiş ağır cinayətlərin acı nümunələrindən biri kimi tarixdə qalır. Ağdaban qurbanlarının xatirəsini dərin hüzn və ehtiramla yad edirik. Allah bütün şəhidlərimizə rəhmət eləsin! ______________ 34 years have passed since the Aghdaban massacre—one of the numerous grave and brutal war crimes committed by Armenia against Azerbaijanis. In 1992, the village of Aghdaban in Kalbajar, consisting of 130 houses, was completely destroyed by Armenian armed groups, leaving the settlement utterly devastated. A total of 779 civilians were subjected to severe torture, and 67 people were brutally killed with exceptional cruelty. This tragedy remains in history as one of the painful examples of the grave crimes committed against the Azerbaijani people. We honor the memory of the victims of Aghdaban with deep sorrow and reverence. May Allah rest all our martyrs in peace.

Despite all the suffering and tragedy that Armenians inflicted on Azerbaijanis, our people still speak to you like this. Azerbaijanis are a great and kind people. At the same time, we have learned from our past — which is why we remain vigilant and ready to defend ourselves. But we truly hope that peace has finally come, and that both nations can live side by side in good neighbourly relations.

Armenia with and without the Diaspora are in completely different weight classes. If a nation lacks the energy to develop, it shrinks and becomes invisible. But when it possesses that energy, it achieves an entirely different status. Together with the Diaspora, Armenia can double or even triple its developmental energy. youtu.be/I90igB5oRHU

@Azeri_Mamedov This is misleading. “Total vocabulary” isn’t a real linguistic metric and varies by dictionary. Armenian didn’t “replace” its Indo-European words with Persian ones—like Azerbaijani and Georgian it just has loanwords from historical contact. That’s normal for most languages

I’m looking forward to continuing our work on a new framework for closer EU and Azerbaijan cooperation that reflects our joint vision for the future. The EU stands in full solidarity with you and your people, as the dangerous military escalation in Iran and the Middle East risks having a direct impact on Azerbaijan.

🇦🇿🇮🇱 During the First Karabakh War, some of our neighbors helped the Armenian occupation forces to occupy our lands. But during that period, besides Turkey, Israel was also by our side. In 1993, during the difficult days for our country, when Azerbaijanis expelled by Armenians from their native homes were living in tents and going through severe trials, many of our neighbors and part of the international community were actively supporting our enemies. At that difficult moment, in 1993, Israel sent humanitarian aid to Azerbaijan. Israel has always been by Azerbaijan’s side — both in sorrow and in joy. Today some criticize Azerbaijan for cooperating with Israel. But when Azerbaijanis were subjected to ethnic cleansing, when our cities were being destroyed and our cemeteries and mosques were being desecrated — where were these critics then? Therefore, no one has the moral right to tell Azerbaijan what to do and how to build its policy and relations with other countries. #Azerbaijan #Israel #Karabakh #FirstKarabakhWar #SouthCaucasus #Geopolitics #Politics #History #News
