The show fucked up the concept of the Avatar after cementing so much of it in ATLA. Korra should've learned she was the Avatar by the Water Sages/Leaders at lot 16-18. AFTER Mastering Excelsior exclusively Water Bending while being treated no differently than any other. THEN she was supposed to explore the world, finding the other elemental masters to teach her in their culture and ways. Not secluded to a hypertraining program.
