A NEW ECONOMIC ORDER Classical economics is built on assumptions that made sense for most of history: human intelligence was scarce, slow to develop, and biologically limited. Because intelligence was scarce, labor, expertise, and innovation were also constrained. Because intelligence was the core bottleneck, and everything depends on it, economics focused on managing limited resources. When intelligence is scarce, output can only grow incrementally. Because ideas take time to form and spread, knowledge diffuses slowly. Because skills take years to build, productivity gains take generations to materialize. As a result, institutions, markets, and policies evolved to fit those constraints: education takes decades because learning is slow, firms scale through hiring because capability is tied to people, and innovation is limited by the speed of human cognition. But when intelligence becomes abundant, replicable, and continuously improving, no longer tied to biology, the bottleneck is removed. And when the bottleneck is removed, the constraints it created begin to disappear. If intelligence can be copied, expertise no longer accumulates slowly but scales instantly. If cognitive work can be replicated, labor is no longer the primary input. When ideas can be generated and tested continuously, innovation will shifts from a slow, cumulative process to real time iteration. As these changes compound, the current system built to manage scarcity starts to misalign with reality. Scarcity does not disappear entirely, physical resources, energy, and attention can still be limited, but the central organizing principle changes. Instead of allocating scarce intelligence across competing uses, the problem becomes directing abundant intelligence toward valuable outcomes.
