There is a ceiling though. Eventually his short tenures will work against him. Why should a university hire someone who is afraid to actually lead a program? You can’t really evaluate his recruiting because he is never in one place long enough. You can’t really evaluate how he deals with adversity because he runs. Soon he will be damaged goods. His own doing

It shouldn't shock anyone that Coach H is leaving after just one season, especially given his recent success and the fact that he left ASU after only two. He’s incredibly driven, and looking at his track record, he clearly operates with a chip on his shoulder and a point to prove. Honestly, if I were in his shoes with no deep ties to the program, a fresh championship under my belt, six graduating seniors, and an uncertain roster ahead I’d make the exact same move.

@DoctorSoFlo 😂 I’m not being nice to Coach H. He getting the same treatment as Golesh. I hope Providence and Auburn suck for the foreseeable future 🙂

@willydgtg901 @USF_GreenNgold This is correct. We are a football first athletic department. There just isn’t much money left to be competitive when it comes to basketball offers against major schools

@USF_GreenNgold Operating budget ≠ not equal NIL USFs basketball NIL is probably 3-4x smaller than Providence considering they have to pay for football

That was staged Ms Peggy. Why you think Congress didn’t even investigate? The leader of the free world is cheering the death of a man who served his country honorably. Nobody should be defending the president on this. He was better off saying nothing. Unfortunately his narcissistic personality will not allow him to.

@CalltoActivism How did you behave when Trump was almost assassinated? Did you say "damn, they missed"? What about Charlie Kirk? Did you cheer because he was "hateful and racist" and applaud the teachers smearing fake blood on their necks and celebrating? Mueller was a traitor. No sympathy here

🚨 WTF. Scott Bessent not only refused to condemn Trump’s celebration of Robert Mueller’s death, he says Trump deserves “EMPATHY for what has been done to him and his family." You can’t make this cruel shit up.

He isn’t from RI. Calling Providence a better job is definitely subjective. I think the ppl who support usf athletics do deserve an explanation. I’m not saying it’s needs to come directly from him but leadership has a responsibility. He signed a 6 year contract with USF to lead the program. He did not come close to honoring his contract.

We need commitment to continuity and longevity for any coach they hire. The pressure is on leadership to do better in interviewing and vetting these potential hires. If they are not willing to commit to usf for long term then why should us fans continue to support USF athletics. I personally spend my hard earned money giving and supporting usf. I expect everyone from the top down to do their job.

Seeing a lot of South Florida fans frustrated that the program will be on its fifth coach in five years. It’s frustrating, I get that. But USF has tremendous leadership that made some really strong hires in recent years.
Mid-Major Basketball@midmajorball

After days of rumors, South Florida coach Bryan Hodgson is finalizing a deal to be the next Providence coach. Great hire but a big loss for the Bulls, who he guided to an American title and NCAA Tournament appearance this year.

I’m saying it’s deeper than just coming in with your players and winning. For me, as a supporter of all USF Athletics, it’s about building a program. That including instilling a winning culture, building trust and commitment, building and leaving a legacy. You can’t do those things in a year. You are pointing to a conference championship. The expectation from USF athletics, fans and alumni should be bigger than that. Build the culture and that starts at the top and the hiring of coaches who do not only see us a stepping stone to their next job opportunity. It’s time we build!

His decision was purely about him. Remember a lot of these coaches say whatever to get hired. We have no insight into their end goal. Some ppl are genuine like AAR and some are opportunistic like Hodgson. We appreciate what H did. We wish him the best but I also reserve the right to call him out for being uncommitted to USF and what we are trying to build here. Coaching here should mean more than a paycheck. It should be about building a program that makes student athletes want to come here and play. It’s about trust and commitment. It’s bigger than they just the coach.. it’s more. Go Bulls

I think Hodgson made the decision he thought was best for him. Cannit fault him for that. However, I think he made the wrong choice long term given the opportunity to rise with the Bulls. The leadership with the Bulls is going to deliver this program back to a power conference with a BIG future ahead. I wish @CoachBHodgson well and appreciate how he handled himself during this situation and never being dishonest nor letting the situation distract him from his job of winning a championship. Bulls Nation, do not let this get you down. Simply remember how @RHiggins_USF upgraded the football head coaching position when Golesh left. It will be easier once we get to a power conference to retain high performing coaches. That has to be and will remain the top priority for USF. Go Bulls!! #Hornsup
Rob Higgins@RHiggins_USF

We were informed by Coach Hodgson that he will be leaving to become the new head men’s basketball coach at Providence. Congratulations and thank you to Coach Hodgson, Jordan and Jett! We had an incredible season, including our second regular season championship in the last three years and our first conference tournament title in the last 36 years. This year’s team earned not one, but two championship banners for the Yuengling Center rafters, and we’re forever grateful to our student-athletes, Coach Hodgson, his family and his staff. Coach said he would come and win championships and he delivered on that promise by leading the most successful season in the history of our program. Rest assured, we did everything within reason to try and retain Coach for the long term. We will always be proactive and aggressive in working to retain high performing coaches, but equally as important, we will also always be the ultimate stewards of our department’s financial resources. Through candid conversations throughout this process, we have been preparing for this possibility in recent weeks. This includes working diligently to put our program in prime position to land the perfect leader to not only build on this special season, but to also help take us to even greater heights in seasons to come. Bulls Nation, I am naturally biased, but we believe the short- and long-term opportunity of leading our men’s basketball program is second to none. The interest associated with this position has already been unprecedented in advance of it officially opening, which speaks to how far our program has come in recent seasons, how well it’s competitively resourced, and where we're going. In short, we could not be more excited about the future of USF Men’s Basketball and can’t wait to keep building together with every one of you! All Gas. No Brakes!!! Go Bulls!!!🤘🏻😤

lol all the remaining players are leaving. We are not a better program. We have start over…again. He wasn’t here long enough to build or instill anything. He used usf to find his next opportunity. He had no intention of ever staying. Players get call out all the time these days for taking monies then leaving for the next program. It’s time we call out this opportunistic coaches too. He was here for less than a year😂
