For years as a tradition, I’d go with my family friend to Tom Dorward’s house for the NCAA final. Tom owned the Folklore Centre in downtown Halifax. He knew every stat from every sport. Many assumed he just knew music. Wrong. Tom was a Michigan man. He’d be smiling tonight.

@danorlovsky7 @PaulHembo Can they play zone or a match-up zone? You might be saved in the corners defensively. If it’s man, they’re isolating you or putting you in ball screens. Offensively, you might be helpful but they’re doubling the ball and leaving you open - comfort in passing? 35-41 MAYBE

@KPILLAR4 what’s your take on confidence? Bullpen is stretched thin tonight, but Little is continually showing discomfort and you know nerves and history have to play a part in it. I can see this being one of his last games as a Jay. How does someone bounce back?

WBC takeaway: Best product for fans to rally behind. More casual fans will watch next time around. Jays fans already know what it’s like to root for a country. WBC is really going to be missed on those May, weekend afternoon Nationals/Tigers games. Love baseball.

@WorldWideWob Lakers coverage was legit. Those soft doubles at the top really leave no option other than to take the gamble that the advantage on the pass will work out. Need better off-ball action to get less attention on him, though. Even with LAL switches, there’s more weak-side options.

@Mat_MacDonald C’mon man it’s more than “drawing” fouls he actively initiates contact and flops repeatedly. Not sure why @NBAOfficial repeatedly bail out obvious non-contact plays. There’s an agenda there for some reason and it’s nothing to admire especially being a Canadian. Just my opinion

SGA is the best player on the best team in the NBA. It’s not a debate. There are a handful of tier 1 players - SGA, Wemby, Jokic - in the West, and all three of those guys are the reason why their teams (likely in that order) are all favourites to win this year. MVP locked.

Raptors ability down the stretch to execute long possessions on the offensive end up creating good off-ball movement, securing deflections and second chance points have really helped them against the Pistons. They went from praying out the clock to controlling it.

@MarkraftusMark Had Jokic not missed weeks with injury, I think the MVP race would be much closer. I also think he’s one of the greatest already, top 20 without a doubt - and SGA isn’t there yet. But SGA’s next level takeover when needed is something not many have.

@Mat_MacDonald I disagree. He is on the best team yes - most depth with several physical (dirty) players. He is a top 3 player. IMO Jokic is MVP - clearly best player in the league by a WIDE margin. SGA is officiated unlike anyone else in the NBA. Obvious foul merchant routinely bailed out

Multiple sources with knowledge of Thursday's GM meeting as well as a late January Competition Committee meeting told ESPN that the following concepts have been discussed to curb tanking: •First-round picks can be protected only top-4 or top-14+ •Lottery odds freeze at the trade deadline or a later date •No longer allowing a team to pick top 4 in consecutive years and/or after consecutive bottom-3 finishes •Teams can’t pick top-4 the year after making conference finals •Lottery odds allocated based on two-year records •Lottery extended to include all play-in teams •Flatten odds for all lottery teams
