A student brought me the program he coded to calculate function values for specific inputs (our current lesson) and I thought this was the most perfect example of students learning for twenty-first century careers! @CSMS_Huskies #explorecsms #lex1math

Tuesday brought another day of Pack Week competitions, singing students, and Minute-to-win-it games during lunch. It got intense! @CSMS_Huskies

I love watching the students gain confidence in their graphing skills as we go along! It's also amazing to see them go above and beyond, researching equations for other shapes, like circles and parabolas. #ExploreCSMS #lex1math @AVID_CSMS @CSMS_Huskies @SydowJay

It's the most wonderful time of the year! The time when I have my A1H students apply the linear function skills they've learned in a fun and challenging way! #ExploreCSMS #lex1math @AVID_CSMS @CSMS_Huskies @SydowJay

Exciting weekend watching my boy AND “my boys” wrestle! Wesley was undefeated and LHS took 4th, WK beat RB (always the ultimate win right?) and I got to see my students pin some opponents! So proud of all of them! @CSMS_Huskies @WrestlingWKHS

@MrsGregory_LME I pretty exclusively use the area model now! And when I’m teaching distribution or polynomial multiplication I always take my students on a trip back to 4th grade :) Some of them don’t appreciate it at first, but once they multiple a trinomial by a binomial they’re sold.

When the exit tickets show that a different approach is needed, you pivot! Thank you to @mathequalslove for the Domain and Range foldable! It was great to hear it clicking into place and watching the students engage in hands on math. #ExploreCSMS #lex1math

@cjcris23 @MoniseLSeward @J_Cronq @colleenhenness4 I think what the poster was saying is these specific kids do ask for help all the time, but won’t utilize it properly, and then are telling their parents they don’t feel comfortable asking for help when in fact they do.
English

@MoniseLSeward @J_Cronq @colleenhenness4 I wasn’t referring to your tweet but to the reply about not believing “I’m not comfortable asking for help.”

@johnjoy1966 @DawnDJacobs I think there might be. As an algebra teacher I see students struggle because they skip the relationship side (balancing equations and inverse operations) and go straight to “fill in the blank based on memorized facts”. It only gets them through 6th grade math, then they stall.
English

@DawnDJacobs Rote memorization followed up later with the exploration of relationships, vs. exploring relationships that result in organic recall of math facts. Is there a difference in the end result?

Our first attempt at Avid Collaborative Study Groups for an Algebra 1 Honors test review. Engaged students talking about math and helping each other trouble shoot their questions! Still needs some refinement, but they did great for their first time! @AVID_CSMS @CSMS_Huskies

We SO appreciate Mr.Robert for taking care of multiple bus routes for us- and always with a smile! @deerfieldlex1

@LeisaClamp @MarinerMates Oh gosh! I don’t know how I didn’t get a report on this yesterday! I’m going to have to ask griffin about it when he gets home. He’s a crier!
