People gotta stop. Black LA is very present, impactful on the county’s culture, and easy to access.
You’re just not going to find it in the areas non-natives like to flock to — and that part is not Black LA’s problem to fix.

Like there is a difference in going to the gym and seeing all Black ppl in a neighborhood full of Black owned restaurants playing black music than living in a city where you have to legit look for a Black community. LA ain’t Chicago or Detroit or Atlanta idc the population

That would require people to take a deep dive into LA’s history and culture, and to engage with the discussion through nuance and critical thinking, which doesn’t align with people’s perspective of LA being this stereotypical, ignorant, banged out city depicted in movies/tv.

Instead of Twitter arguing about why LA does not feel black... They need to examine what happened to LA and make sure it doesn't happen where they live. The same forces that changed LA are changing these black cities too

Between the “war on drugs” and gentrification, the way Black people have been systematically pushed out of LA since the 80s fits the definition of ethnic cleansing
