My name is Chris and I’m an alcoholic. Today marks 13 days since I’ve drank. I didn’t expect this much support so here’s a little back story about me. 13 years ago I drank 24/7. Me and my friend got in some big trouble, I spent 90 days in jail and checked myself into a rehab before my sentencing. The judge was amazed on this and reduced my sentencing to graduate that rehab. I wasn’t ready but I didn’t want to go to prison. I snuck vodka inside the facility eventually and got away with it. I met my wife I’m with now at this time. I graduated still even though I wasn’t sober. She put up with me for years and years while I was on probation. It wasn’t until I got off probation I was able to quit drinking, about 2018. I quit for years, cold turkey. It wasn’t until 2024 when I got laid off from a job paying $45 an hour. That’s when I fell back down and haven’t been able to fully recover. That brings us to today where I can claim 13 days, doesn’t seem like a lot but for me it’s everything. Thank you all for being there for me♥️

Why is it that I still struggle getting automatic faucets/soap/paper towel dispensers to work? I spend so much time trying to figure out the secret wave they need to turn on. And when I finally get the faucet on it turns off in 0.5 seconds. Is it me or do they suck?

Apparently. We're surrounded by people without any intellectual curiosity who finally decided to look up. Some of us have been doing it for decades and know this is totally normal.

A government already has access to multiple data streams and systems. An app just makes it easier to connect dots that were previously separate. And before anyone says we’ll just don’t grant permissions, most people don’t even read them. They click accept and move on. Location set to always on, background activity running, notifications pinging constantly. You’ve basically agreed to passive monitoring without thinking twice. The bigger issue isn’t what they say they’re collecting TODAY. It’s what happens to that data TOMORROW. Policies change. Priorities shift. Data doesn’t disappear. Don’t be careless. And if you’re going to put something like this on your phone, please do the following:
 -Turn off anything you don’t absolutely need;
-Limit location to while using;
-Deny contacts, mic, and files unless there’s a real reason; and
-Actually read what you’re agreeing to.
