His development as a fighter clearly reaching the point of plateauing so he will probably never be MMA’s chosen one like many believed.

Current Gaethje is slower, less durable, and noticeably worse and declined reactions, even technically he is way worse than before.
The only thing the Justin that fought ilia has over prime Justin is that he is better tactically and trusts his gameplan. Anything else is cope.

Unless fighter has swelled up brain, ligament that tears entirely or deep maxilary fracture, they will be okay.
Orbital bone even at small fracture swells up, it needs to protect an eye. It just looks really bad. Rest.

@VenenoVamp He’s not retreating backwards, he’s on the back foot, 2 different things, but he’s not giving ground is the point and yeah he was landing them while planting his feet, also helps that he hits twice as hard as both Volk/ilia, just a different type of jabber than Volk/Max

@VenenoVamp Topuria couldn’t slip the jabs because in comparison to Holloway and Volk Gaethje was committed to the jab and wasn’t jabbing backwards and his timing>Topuria’s timing, when Topuria slipped the jab the single collar tie uppercut was ready by Gaethje.
