It was to denigrate and degrade - it started bc Lebron fans, again, cannot cope with the fact that he won't catch MJ. And the only skill that has improved is ball handling - and mainly because of, again, lax carrying/traveling rules. The "skills" improved bc players were allowed to do more with the ball. AI actually helped loosen some of those rules up btw - a 90s player. But again, 3P%, FT%, Jumper%, etc. is all basically the same since the 1980s. And I do not think it's the case that todays worst would destroy yesteryears worst... maybe dribbling wise... but not on shooting, and not on D.. and not on fundamentals... etc. I think to your point, players will play longer bc it's a "full time job" and tons of money has flowed in - but they won't be better generally speaking.

If it were iPhones that were leaving the factory with explosives inside, the media would be a hell of a lot faster to cotton on to what a horrific precedent has been set today. Nothing can justify this. It's a crime. A crime. And everyone in the world is less safe for it.
