Built a quick and dirty audio cable for #SSTV during @JOTAJOTI next weekend. QRV as PA3RVG/J from Scouting Beek en Donk!

Getting ready for @JOTAJOTI 2024 from Scouting St. Willibrordus in Beek en Donk, the Netherlands, JO21TM. We will be QRV on 2m and possibly #QO100 next weekend as PA3RVG/J. @jotajoti_nl

@PE1RDP @VERON_Nederland Ah ok. Ik heb het een paar jaar geleden een keer gedaan, toen ook weinig QSO's inderdaad. Ik heb nu een portable setup waarmee ik zaterdagmiddag naar Scouting Aarle Rixtel en Scouting Beek en Donk rijd. Portable geeft ook wat flexibiliteit qua kiezen van LOS-spot.

@PA3RVG @VERON_Nederland Nee niet meer. We hebben dit enkele jaren gedaan maar was veel werk (oa vinden spot LOS) en weinig qso's.

@BourascomD @JOTAJOTI Yes, with a dish of 90cm I get an SNR of about 18 dB.

@PA3RVG @JOTAJOTI So, are you using any big offset Dish in order to work SSB mode ?

I converted my QO-100 setup to use an external 12 volt supply instead of PoE so I can power it with a battery and use it portable in the upcoming @JOTAJOTI weekend. I plan to operate from two local scouting groups on saturday. I will test the complete setup on QO-100 tonight.

@Manawyrm @BourascomD @JOTAJOTI Thanks for your input! Did you drive it with a Pluto and the little AD preamp PCB? Because with that combination I cannot nearly drive it into compression, at least not audibly so with SSB or two-tone signals.

@PA3RVG @BourascomD @JOTAJOTI I have the same PA and I've seen it do an absolute max output of ~34dBm or 2900mW when driven into compression. About 1.5-2W looked pretty usable in terms of linearity :)

@BourascomD @JOTAJOTI Good question, 4 chinese watts, so probably 1 or so. I don't have a means to measure it.

Howly cow. Finally I was also able to complete a QSO with DL7APV via #EME. IC-9700 75W barefoot with 10el Alaskan arrow (30cm semi rigid cable). More pix, screenshots and even audio recordings to follow. ✅️ EME QSO #hamradio

#Artemis1 uses CCSDS AOS (v2) frames, spacecraft ID is 0x14 and this matches SANA registry: sanaregistry.org/r/spacecraftid… This confirms the signal on 2216.5MHz is really coming from #Artemis1. Fill frames are sent on VC 63 filled with counting up bytes (no ASCII messages this time☹️).

@MoodeAudio I recently switched over from Volumio because I had some trouble with Spotify and didn't fancy the paid plan. Works like a charm. 👌

I just returned from an excellent JOTA weekend at Scouting Dirk Duyvel in Alkmaar. After building our antenna mast and setting up, we made radio contacts all over the world. We won the regional JOTAcross game on Saturday night! We also launched three High Altitude Balloons.🎈
