🚨 BREAKING: This has been rumored for months now but is finally official. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. ⚖️
FYI…JOOLA’s Propulsion Core is a patented, spring-like paddle technology designed to increase power and spin by allowing the ball to sink into the surface upon contact.

@annabright108 @zoeyweil66 Heart broken. Was so looking forward to watching yall

@ZaneNavratil The backflip is because of the momentum from the ball. Simple physics!

@pickleball_jim Very well deserved. They are going to improve fast

New PPA contracts to Will MacKinnon and Rafa Lenhard, both well deserved, and great move by PPA. MacKinnon is a future doubles star; Lenhard is already a singles star and will improve at doubles. Also, rumor has it that Quang Duong has contacted PPA about wanting to come back. If true, he better lower his $ expectation by A LOT, or it ain’t happening. And by “A LOT”, I mean like 95%.

Excited to watch @WillHowells_pb compete on the @PPAtour the next three years! See you in January… and congratulations on finishing your year-end event with gold.

@PPAPikachu @PPAtour Good point. But apparently this same event was approved by UPA committee last year… wouldn’t be surprised to see them all lawyer up. See Ryan Fu’s clarifying post.

Effective immediately, the United Pickleball Association has terminated the contracts of players Ryan Fu, Vivian Glozman, and James Ignatowich.
The terms of each player’s contract are confidential, however, participating in competitor events is a black-and-white violation of UPA agreements.
UPA and its leading properties, the PPA Tour and MLP, have put significant resources into building goodwill, branding, and name recognition, which, when leveraged by competing organizations, contradicts our efforts to build and grow pro pickleball’s business.
Parris Todd also participated in this event after initially reaching out for permission to do so, with incomplete context. Leadership is still reviewing the full details, and discussions are ongoing regarding the appropriate consequence - which could range from a fine to a suspension to, if warranted, termination. We will communicate the final outcome once that decision is made.
The UPA remains fully committed to our players who honor their commitments and to building the brightest future possible for professional pickleball.

@SaminOdhwani @yellowmambapb This needs to be settled in a singles death match

Ryan — your post leaves out material facts. To be clear, you didn’t submit the approval request — James submitted it on your behalf. And what he submitted was not accurate.
The request stated:
“Clinics and potentially a free exhibition.” “No potential conflicting partners.”Hosted by “a local couple who love pickleball.” Pros attending: Tyra, Max, Ryan Fu.“No tournament, no prize money.”
For clarity: we are fully supportive of the Pickleball Japan Federation and want to collaborate with them the right way. The issue is that the approval request described this as a small, informal trip hosted by “a local couple,” when in reality it was a federation-run, commercially sponsored event — which simply requires proper approval and sanctioning.
The request said everything would be free. In reality:
$150 per person for clinics
And the exhibition (“Challenge the Pros”) cost $20 per ticket, not free. (Screenshots below)
The request also stated explicitly: “No tournament.” But the Japan event did include a tournament — and the PickleballTournaments listing shows 1,200+ registered participants. This was a full-scale event.
The pros listed for approval were not the pros who actually went. The real group was James, Ryan, Vivian, and Parris — completely different from the list submitted.
The event also used PPA and MLP branding in marketing without approval. We’re always open to working with international organizers and would’ve gladly sanctioned this properly. But transparency and accuracy matter — especially when representing the league, its partners, and its athletes.

Ouch. When the paddle is UPA certified but the player is not 😭

Ignatowich, Glozman, & Fu - UPA Contracts Terminated
James Ignatowich, Ryan Fu, and Vivian Glozman have had their contracts with the UPA terminated, according to the league.
Parris Todd's contract is still under review, and her outcome could be a fine, suspension, termination, or a combination of those things.
The alleged breaches of contract are for competing in competitors' events overseas, which is a HUGE no-no in the UPA exclusivity part of the contract.
Stay tuned as more news come out on this.
