@ThecourtsaidNI @DrJessTaylor Agree, that's when a decision must be made by the medical team; which of course, (I would hope) would be in the best interest of the patient. I just hope that the next of kin would be informed of the decisions being made and not have to find out after the loss of a loved one.

@PerryHenry16 @DrJessTaylor You can't always do that, certainly not with an intubated patient. It will always be the decision of 3 consultants. I also recall remember many years ago, people being resuscitated when they didn't want to be, which is equally devastating for some....

This has genuinely hurt me to read. Teenagers with Autism and Down’s, and people with ‘mental health issues’ given DNRs during COVID pandemic. This is astonishing. Appalling. I feel sick. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…

@ThecourtsaidNI @DrJessTaylor And I respect your opinion on this subject. My mother was very clear with her final wishes - my duty was to advocate on her behalf. My issue is; not informing patients or their families of the decisions that are being made and informed choice.

@ThecourtsaidNI @DrJessTaylor Absolutely agree. Nobody should be subjected to that. At the time it was my mother's wishes and we attempted to uphold her preferences. It is heartbreaking if DNARs are being slapped on patients for any other reason other than their health status at the time of implementation.

@PerryHenry16 @DrJessTaylor It does happen with elderly people. They are talking about young people with disabilities. Of course it happens with elderly people. It would be cruel to jump up and down on an elderly person's chest.

@ThecourtsaidNI @DrJessTaylor The topic of discussion is DNARs being put in place during Covid for patients with vulnerabilities/disabilities and not as a direct result of their health status.

@ThecourtsaidNI @DrJessTaylor Unfortunately it does happen. Ex nurse here and my mother was put on a DNAR after consultation with me - which I refused. After her death we found out they had put a DNAR in her file with 'my consent'. She was elderly, vulnerable and delirious at the time of admission...
