NEW: Richard Tice failed to pay almost £100,000 in corporation tax, benefiting his investment company which made large donations to Reform UK. First time Reform's deputy leader's tax affairs can be directly linked to finances of Nigel Farage's party. Tice said: "Naturally I am always happy to put things right and if numbers need rechecking, of course I will pay what is owed - be that more or less." It's another big story from @Gabriel_Pogrund who also revealed last week that Tice's property company failed to pay £91,000 in tax before dividends.

🚨Sunday Times investigation today: Richard Tice’s companies appear to have failed to pay £100,000+ in corporation tax on profits, while funnelling over £1 million in donations to Reform UK. Tice calls it a “technicality” but critics say it looks like aggressive tax avoidance benefiting both him personally and his party. The party that campaigns hardest against the establishment and tax avoidance now finds itself accused of exactly that.

As people get postal votes for the Scot Parl election please be careful of the spoiler operation which is 'Independent Green Voice'. They are listed second on the regional ballot paper in South of Scotland with the Green Party further down. IGV is a right-wing spoiler operation.

The ‘Sovereign AI Fund’, which invests UK taxpayers’ money, announced its first portfolio of 6 companies . Some of them seem to train AI on copyrighted work without a licence. UK taxpayer money should not go to AI companies that exploit creatives. Suspect this won't go down well

Well, well, well.....What do we have here? Could it be an email between Epstein and JD Vance’s techno-tyrant benefactor Peter Thiel where they plan to “collapse society" in order to create wealth opportunities for themselves? Well, I'll be damned. It is!

TheTelegraph sums up the strength of feeling about swifts & the Network Rail swift saga is a lens to see the entire problem - of loss of nesting habitat. Until this government takes securing national scale nesting habitat seriously, these birds will continue to decline #swifts

If one of my party's recent prime ministers had redecorated the No 10 flat in a way that ended up involving TWO separate inquiries and a Wikipedia page, I would simply not have put out a press release confirming that the current PM had spent less than the allowance he was given.

The right to protest isn’t a gift from government. It’s a democratic principle, hard-won and easily lost. Last night the government tried to smuggle through a “cumulative disruption” power that would let police ban protests simply because other people had protested in the same area before. Think about what that means: your right to march could be extinguished by someone else’s march on an entirely different issue. They knew this wouldn’t survive proper scrutiny - so they denied MPs the time to give it any. I supported the cross-party motion to oppose the cumulative disruption amendment. The government used its majority to force it through regardless. Protest is supposed to be disruptive. That’s the point. From the suffragettes to the anti-apartheid movement, it was cumulative, persistent, inconvenient protest that changed this country for the better. One of the most authoritarian political parties in modern British history is leading in the polls. As I said in the chamber when the government proscribed Palestine Action - a progressive Labour government should be building firewalls for our democracy, not tearing them down and pitch-rolling for Reform. This Bill isn’t law yet. It now returns to the Lords, and this fight is far from over.

"The 20 UK 'no-go' beaches for swimming this spring revealed - with contaminated waters, sewage and dump waste polluting the sea." Truly what have we become as a nation when every spring newspapers are having to publish 20 beaches to avoid lists? 🤬 dailymail.co.uk/travel/article…

The use of primary energy on the vertical axis is an old trick by the fossil fuel industry to mislead people into thinking that one unit of fossils = one unit of renewables. In fact, one unit of primary energy for wind or solar electricity is the equivalent of three units of fossil fuels for electricity. Another trick is to pretend we need all those fossils if we switched to renewables. In fact, if we switch to renewables, 12% of the fossil fuel energy disappears because that is how much energy is used to mine-transport-refine fossil fuels+uranium for energy, and we wouldn't need to do that anymore A third trick is to pretend we need so much energy if we go to all electricity powered by renewables. In that case, because EVs use 75% less energy than gasoline/diesel vehicles, heat pumps use 75% less energy than combustion heating, etc., energy demand goes down another 42%. In sum, this plot illustrates the real story of where we are and where we need to go. The proper metric is end-use energy, not primary energy. web.stanford.edu/group/efmh/jac… and here's the paper web.stanford.edu/group/efmh/jac…
