One of the biggest misconceptions in web3 gaming is that good gameplay alone guarantees success. Which is false In web3, if your product be it a game or a defi protocol : ➭ Doesn’t make revenue, ➭ Doesn’t make people money one way or the other and ➭ isn’t Good enough for people to come back to YOU WILL FAIL Because at the end of the day, games are businesses. Web2 games can survive on game sales, in-app purchases, DLCs, subscriptions, because there’s a massive player base. The gaming market is large enough to support that model. Web3 gaming doesn't have that luxury. There simply aren't enough crypto gamers today for most projects to rely solely on traditional gaming revenue streams. That's why it's called web3 gaming and not just gaming. The mistake many builders make is focusing entirely on making a good game while ignoring the crypto side of the equation or vice versa. We've seen plenty of genuinely good games shut down. Not because they were boring. Not because the gameplay was bad. They failed because they couldn't sustain themselves. That's why I find games like Cambria interesting. Whether you like the game or not, it understands something many projects don't: You have to build for the ecosystem you're in. The reality is that not everyone entering a web3 game is a traditional gamer. Some are collectors. Some are traders. Some are farmers. Some are competitors. The challenge isn't just making a fun game. The challenge is creating a system where gamers enjoy playing, while everyone else still has a reason to participate. The projects that figure out how to balance both are the ones that survive. The ones that don't eventually run out of players, run out of revenue, and disappear.

The more I watch this space, the more I realize a lot of these hiring decisions aren’t based on competence. They’re based on control. Thats facts.
