JUST IN: The State’s application for leave to appeal the bail granted to Namcor–Enercon fraud accused Cornelius Cedric Willemse was struck from the roll this morning after the prosecution failed to file its heads of argument by the final submission deadline, which expired today. State prosecutor Basson Lilungwe sought to appeal Willemse’s release after he was granted bail following three and a half months in custody. Last October, magistrate Olga Muharukua granted the 52-year-old Willemse, who was arrested on 8 July, bail of N$200 000. UPDATE: RITA KAKELO
