A Winnipeg couple ~ Irene Lima, 56, and Chad Kabecz, 41 ~ have received 12-year prison sentences after pleading guilty to producing and selling videos that depicted extreme animal abuse and killings. The punishment is being described as one of the harshest ever handed down in Canada for animal cruelty offenses. Investigators also seized hundreds of graphic videos and images, along with tens of thousands of encrypted messages, from the couple’s electronic devices. The crimes were planned, repeated, and commercialized, targeting vulnerable animals to satisfy buyer requests. Hundreds of videos and tens of thousands of messages were seized, leading to 12-year prison sentences, among the harshest ever for animal cruelty in Canada.
