Today's wreath laying ceremony at the Memorial Park cenotaph commemorated the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Dieppe during the Second World War and the role played by the 8th Reconnaissance Regiment (14th Canadian Hussars), which was headquartered in Swift Current.

Second World War veteran John Watson laid the wreath at this morning's 80th anniversary D-Day ceremony at the Swift Current Memorial Park cenotaph. He arrived in a Bren gun carrier. Watson served with the Royal Regina Rifles. His unit arrived in France a few weeks after #DDay.
