@hotiiofficial Both of you are right. You can build weight by training to failure light weight. Or by lifting heavy progressive overload reps of 8-12.

You don't have to lift heavier weights to build muscle I realized this the day I saw a big well jacked man lifting lighter weights than me in the gym, I weigh just 70kg/155lbs in bodyweight and I was pressing 10 reps of 40kg/88lbs dumbbells on the incline while he was pressing 30kg/66lbs dumbbells even though it was obvious he weighs around 100kg/ 220lbs in bodyweight I asked him"why?" and he said "I only lift heavy once in a while when I want to test my strength, but for proper muscle building, I don't chase heavy, what I do is just prioritize proper form and always train to failure" I started doing the same since that day I have been using the 30kg/66lbs dumbbells and I have noticed faster chest growth, I can do 20 reps of that now on the incline bench, I just started doing 35kg/77lbs on the first day of this month, I will do that till I can do 20 reps and keep progressing this way.
