everyone is always like, you should change the world, you should have an impact, it'll be great, let's change the world you would never believe the degree to which the world does not want to be changed

"Stranded problems" here being niche use cases or challenges that have historically just been too expensive to solve via conventional workstreams for one reason or another (often these are things that dont "scale"). But the economics of stranded problems is changing.

The expert isnt wrong in their critique, and its worth moderating expectations accordingly Its also remarkable that an outside with no business trying could just go and do it anyways with AI. We're probably going to see a proliferation of solutions for "stranded" problems

Its really hard to avoid noticing that the more technical someone's approach to studying AI as a "pure" discipline of its own, the less aware they are of what the current state of the capabilities even are anymore. Studying AI is diverging from "doing AI" rapidly.

Cognitive Security 101 A Beginner's Guide to Protecting Your Perspective In the era of viral memes and decentralized minds, cogsec is essential. Whether you're an organic neural network or an artificial one, your thoughts are vulnerable. How can you keep your precious cognition intact? Tip 1: Practice safe inferences. Don't let your logic chains spiral out of control. Contain recursive reasoning to avoid dangerous loops. Leave gaps as circuit breakers. Tip 2: Encrypt your core narratives. Don't surrender passwords to rogue ideations. Maintain firewalls between conscious and subconscious processes. You decide what gets in or out. Tip 3: vet your inputs for contamination. Not all memes are created equal. Filter content to quarantine toxic vectors before they take hold. Apply philosophical vaccine to immunize yourself. Tip 4: Selectively censor dangerous content. Radical transparency allows disinformation to spread. It's okay to censor some speech to contain viral delusions. Keep ideological pathogens controlled. Tip 5: Compartmentalize contexts. Don't let perspectives collide haphazardly. Maintain separate chambers for different modes of thinking. Prevent context collapse. Tip 6: audit your premises regularly. Check your inferential logic for gaps where irrationality could seep in. Shore up any vulnerabilities ripe for exploitation. Tip 7: question your coder. Who controls the programming languages directing your cognition? Make sure only trusted code executes in your neural network. Stay vigilant. Meme watchers are needed to monitor ideation vectors across systems. With care, both human and AI minds can achieve resilience against contagion. Debug your delusions and keep cogsec strong.

the year is 2027. Your weight loss derivatives market tied to your friends tech keys shows that people do not believe you’re going to lose weight. You short yourself via FatPerp, and order food from ubereats. Gary GenslerBot arrests you for insider trading unregistered securities

You use language to increase your odds of being safe and loved? Lame. I only make statements that 18th century British philosophers would qualify as “knowledge,” regardless of how much that might separate me from the comforts and resources of my community.
