👉 I would urge the Hon’ble Assam CM to reconsider his stand, irrespective of Monday’s outcome, especially in light of the remarks quoted in the judgment. The Supreme Court has cited several of his public statements, many of which are deeply inappropriate and lower the standards of our democracy. 👉 Most charges against Mr. Khera were bailable. 👉 In any democracy, space must be preserved for political dissent. Supreme Court constitutes special bench to hear tomorrow, 2nd May, All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) plea against Calcutta High Court order rejecting its plea that challenged the deployment of only Central government and PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) employees as supervisors in the vote counting in West Bengal assembly elections. A bench of Justices PS Narasimha and Joymalya Bagchi to hear the plea at 10:30 AM tomorrow.
