@adamlangleben If you insist on going down that rabbit hole here's some anti-zionist Jews protesting Israel. Are they nazis too?

Perhaps misguided but I constantly want to believe people can learn. Below are just a few examples of far right fascist National Front literature where Israel is used to launder their antisemitism. The language is pretty close to mainstream language today from parts of the left.

This was a real error by Badenoch. Once you argue that marches must be banned for the fear they provoke inminorities, you cannot just exempt the Robinson events from your calculations. Some of the speeches at his Traf Sq rally were horrendously inciteful against muslims.
Mehdi Hasan@mehdirhasan

Kemi Badenoch, the Tory leader, actually went on the BBC and questioned whether Tommy Robinson (Tommy Robinson!) is “creating a climate of intimidation and violence” with his rally. Astonishing. She’s a disgrace. The safety or ‘feelings’ of UK Muslims don’t count for her.

If you don't know that early Israeli politics - and Zionist politics before that - were heavily dominated by the left, you're not qualified to weigh in on the conflict at all. In the Mandate era, right-wing Zionism was so much the exception, it was literally called "Revisionist".

@RevdRay It may be the excuse, but is it a good one? What if I was lost & needing the gospel & all I got was a graduation ceremony? Seems like something that should be done sometime other than the 10:45 Am Sunday service.

*THREAD*... With all the talk about TEC lately, I was challenged to visit a "conservative" parish from the reconquista map... so I visited St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Cleveland, TN, as it was the only church on the map within 2 hours of me. Historic church right in downtown.

@American_Johnny Surely the Youth Sunday tag is the reason for the vestments and the young persons talk

You can watch the entire service here, as it was streamed and uploaded this morning. If I'm ever in Cleveland again I'll give it another shot to see how normal this experience was, but I am not yet sold on the reconquista. youtube.com/live/rXqZDpOvT…

It’s very simple: the Intifada was a campaign of suicide bombings, shootings and stabbings that killed hundreds of Israeli civilians. Calling for it to be “globalised” means bringing it here. That isn’t “criticising Israel”. It’s inciting violent hatred.

@hogotheforsaken I'm ashamed that I went on demos and avoided standing under banners and near people with placards that I KNEW were antisemitic and thought that was good enough.

@GrahamSpiers @JamieJa39865167 It's also him.paired with Hutton is a good Old Firm team they are both balanced with the right amount of appropriate bias and work of each other well with intelligent commentary. So much better than the Boyd-Sutton borefest

@Dr_Gavin_Brewis Absolutely couldn't agree more. Really liked him and Hutton doubling up as commentator pundits for the Old Firm too. Hutton and Lennon so much better pairing than the Boyd-Sutton clown show.

On the one hand socal gospel liberal Protestants going all out ultramontane whilst Integralist conservative Roman Catholics are rejecting Papal authority! Both because their politics trumps (no pun intended) their theology.

@2D0XPS We are contemplating moving back to the practice of clergy publicly praying it in our churches but with an online option

@2D0XPS We had Morning and Evening Prayer using Canadian BCP app online daily throughout Lent with ante communion added during Holy Week. Up to 25 different people attended regularly with between 6 - 15 people at each service.

I would guess across the CofE there are considerably more parishes with a midweek mass than a midweek office. Given the collapse of Sunday evening services, I would guess there are even some parishes with daily Mass but where the Office is never said publicly with a congregation.
David Szomor@curiouscurate

It is ironical that some of our Tractarians, isolating the Mass and deriding Morning and Evening prayer, even replacing these by more 'Catholic' devotions, were in fact overthrowing the first principle of Catholicism. - Martin Thornton

@MadsDavies I think also that an argument could be made that those who take that line (and I include myself in the past) are instrumentalising the faith themselves just in another direction.

This is Chris Wilson, a Northern Irish writer, responding to their work in "The Church, the Far Right, and the Claim to Christianity." I realise the clip isn't about Far Right but I think it relates to claims of instrumentalisation.

I found Ulrich Schmiedel and Hannah Strømmen really interesting in challenging the idea that Christianity has simply been "hijacked" or "instrumentalised". They suggest that this is too easy or neat a response, specifically in context of Far Right.

Growing up in England during 9IAR with no Scottish tv or radio - and no internet, kids - this was the only way to follow Rangers every Saturday.. Memories. Good ones.
