Kemi Badenoch, the Tory leader, actually went on the BBC and questioned whether Tommy Robinson (Tommy Robinson!) is “creating a climate of intimidation and violence” with his rally. Astonishing. She’s a disgrace. The safety or ‘feelings’ of UK Muslims don’t count for her.

Anyone who denies the connection between these constant marches - at which antisemitic slogans such as “Globalize the intifada” are very common - and the recent upsurge of antisemitic violence in the UK and elsewhere is being deliberately obtuse. I am ashamed to say I used to say the same things myself, 10-15 years ago. I genuinely thought anti-Zionist protests were not antisemitic. But it is plainly idiotic to continue saying so today. Most of those marching are ignorant of the numerous peoples who have been subject to persecution, murder, rape, deliberate starvation for years - and yes, often by groups armed with Western weapons - from the Yazidi to the Uyghur, from the children of Yemen to the Christian girls of Nigeria. Not to mention the atrocities in Congo and South Sudan. Etc etc. If people don’t think they can blame the Jews, they won’t march. That is antisemitism, pure and simple.

This is Neil Lennon at his very best. And why he’s been a godsend to the Scottish media - good or ill - for over 25 years now.

It is ironical that some of our Tractarians, isolating the Mass and deriding Morning and Evening prayer, even replacing these by more 'Catholic' devotions, were in fact overthrowing the first principle of Catholicism. - Martin Thornton
