Somehow this cartoon I made literally just for shits and gigs for my Twitter was named a finalist for Best Comedy Micro Film and Best Texas Film at the #AustinAfterDarkFilmFestival. Screens tonight. On an actual movie screen. Pretty excited.

@RoccSTL Cocomelon just gives such "neuters your kids" vibes. Inadvertently rotting that part of their brain for some reason.

@wil_da_beast630 Tragedy and crime are kinda two different things but there is no greater tragedy than the black death. The only thing on the list no one could fight.

All right. Taking the winners from the brackets above, we come to the final "worst thing in history" bracket. With a shout to other real contenders like the Fall of Rome and WW2, which of these do you feel was the "greatest overall tragedy or crime for mankind?"

Nonsensical. Slavery Was Very Bad, but the idea that we can definitively identify the worst thing in history - and that it was the 10-20% of the historical human slave trade led specifically by whites - is just damned absurd. Some other contenders: The Mongol Conquests The Fall of Rome WW2/the Holocaust The Black Death New World population collapse Communism The Steppe and Bantu Migrations The Arab conquests/slave trade Etc.
Wanjiru Njoya@WanjiruNjoya

The corrupt UN wants to pass a resolution blaming Europe for slavery. "it will label the European-led slave trade as history’s greatest crime ... the 1,300-year-long Arab trade in African slaves will not be mentioned."

Just found out my neighbor has an above ground pool. Using this photo for all future property tax disputes. No assessor can credibly argue a property’s value has been underestimated when it’s clear that on an adjacent property, and within view, a man spends his days floating listlessly on a half-inflated raft, drinking warm Millers and sticking his wet fingers into a bag of barbecue potato chips as his tummy hair collects stray floating leaves, twigs, and drowned moths.

Saw an Austin Energy truck today that had a graphic on it boasting, “Tobacco Free Worksite.” Under no circumstances do I want my city’s blue-collar workers not to be on the job ripping heaters and lining their lips with a full harvest’s worth of dip. We can’t afford to exclude these people from our infrastructure construction and maintenance. Society will crumble.

Since Jan. 1, 2025, South Carolina basketball (men's), football and baseball has played a combined 88 games against power conference competition. The record is 15-73. That means this loyal fanbase has experienced 88 gamedays and experienced a win 17 percent of the time. The SEC record is 9-50. Those are the hard facts right now. What needs to change? The results.

Russia is taking approximately 1.5-3x the casualty and death rate as Ukraine is. They still churn onwards because Ukraine is smaller and Russia can absorb the losses; but it's wild that Ukraine really is pound for pound just wrecking Russia.
Richard Hanania@RichardHanania

“Our model suggests that Russian casualties are now between 1.1m and 1.4m, of whom 230,000-430,000 are dead. That would mean one in 25 Russian men between the ages of 18 and 49 may have been killed or severely wounded since the start of the full-scale war” economist.com/graphic-detail…
