Weather Radio in Canada is facing another shutdown date. Environment Canada is up to this same thing I and so many others fought against years ago, with even less time to organize a response. Disgraceful once again. Removing a life saving service, seems smart.

A major coronal mass ejection became visible on SOHO/LASCO after 8 UTC this morning. Unfortunately, there was no associated eruption on the earth-facing side of the solar disk. Indeed, this eruption took place on the far side and is aimed away from Earth. A shame of course but if we look at it from the bright side... there likely is a sunspot region capable of producing major flares on the far side of the Sun. Let's hope this region survives and perhaps even develops when it turns on to the earth-facing side of the solar disk! Follow it live on spaceweatherlive.com

There is no threat for tsunami impacts in North Dakota. If you are in a coastal area under threat however check tsunami.gov for up to date information and with local officials for any evacuation orders
