@MCPSPE @SHAPEAmerica @AthletesForHope @SnowdenFarm_SDT Thank you to Athletes for Hope for providing the opp’y for our S’s to interact live &answer questions with 2024 Olympic Gold Medalist & Track Superstar Gabby Thomas. Her insight on mental health awareness inspired all of us!

Need a small group station to showcase building critical thinking skills, spatial reasoning, & perseverance—all while having fun? S’s learn to experiment, problem solve, and see the math/ PE connection in a creative new way. Simple sticks, big learning!

PE ProTip: Underhand Roll-Have S’s practice skill without a ball in partnerships giving specific feedback to each other, then have them practice with a ball of their choice, then allow them to design their own challenge using foam blocks—then have others try out their creations🤩

Grade 4 students practiced jumping for height at one of our learning centers. The students self select their level of challenge and try to snag a scarf from a pool noodle at the apex of their jump. I’m in the background cheering them on!!

Just rec’d my certificate 4my 100th design on Canva after creating this slide for our KidsHeartChallenge. I put r school logo on the shirts of students &created a scene that tried 2express how much fun they will be having this week as we celebrate our annual event. It was a hit!

When S’s r injured out of school & have to sit out during the movement portion of PE they still stay actively engaged in our lessons by self selecting from over 30+activities in a workbook I created using Canva. They pull out a sheet they like, put in on a clipboard &fill it out.

Organization is key! Just finished a huge project of creating assessment notebooks for all grades in PE. They are organized by individual grade levels and individual marking periods. A one stop shop 4using these master copies to easily create multiple copies for our students.

Huge thank you to @SFES_Principal and Ms Gross for putting together a fun appreciation week for staff before the winter break! Mon-hot cocoa bar, Tues- sweets, Wed- selfie station with candy canes, Thurs- lunch from @SnowdenFarmPTA, Fri- small gift. What a fun way to go to break!

S’s learned the basics of the underhand throw with teacher designed activities which included a timer, a GIF of the skill, cues, pictures, and learning objectives. Then—they created their own throwing challenges using the equipment from the previously learned games. Win-Win!

Recently our students learned how to dribble and trap a ball with their feet. They used our PE alphabet word wall and our boxlight board as a tech resource to guide their instruction in addition to self selecting their own size/type of ball.

A walk through math classrooms yesterday showed quality student support from teachers and paras- scaffolding with manipulatives, discussing thoughts about next steps, error analysis...all while encouraging student productive struggle @SFES_Principal @SnowdenFarmRS @eureka_math
