Ethereum Block Gas Limit Raised from 45 Million to 60 Million Gas Limit Increase and Throughput Doubling: Signaled by votes from over half (more than 513,000) of the validators, the Ethereum Mainnet block Gas limit was raised from 45M to 60M on November 25, 2025. This has increased the theoretical throughput capacity of L1 by approximately 100% compared to the 2024 level of about 30M. Ecosystem TPS Hits All-Time High: In early November 2025, the total transaction throughput (TPS) of the Ethereum ecosystem ($\text{L1} + \text{L2}$) reached an all-time high of 24,192 to 31,000, with the decentralized exchange Lighter contributing 4,000 to 5,455 TPS. Fusaka Hard Fork Upgrade Plan: The Fusaka Hard Fork upgrade is scheduled for activation at block height 13,164,544 on December 3, 2025 (estimated UTC time 21:49). The core of this upgrade is the introduction of the PeerDAS data availability sampling technology. PeerDAS Technology and its L2 Benefits: PeerDAS technology allows validators to download and verify only a portion of the Blob data. By potentially increasing data capacity up to 10 times, it will significantly reduce the bandwidth cost for Layer 2 networks. Multi-Stage Blob Capacity Adjustment: Following the Fusaka upgrade launch, the first parameter adjustment on December 9, and the subsequent Blob Parameter Only (BPO) fork executed on January 7, 2026, are expected to raise the maximum number of Blobs per block to 14 (an increase of approximately 133%). EIP-7623 Security Measures: To balance the potential propagation pressure caused by the 60M Gas limit, Ethereum simultaneously introduced the EIP-7623 proposal as a complementary security measure. This increases the Gas cost of $\text{Calldata}$, compressing the maximum size in the worst-case scenario from approximately 2.58 MB to about 1.2 MB. ETH Burning Status and Performance Redundancy: As of November 2025, the daily value of ETH burned on the Ethereum network is approximately 32 million USD. Furthermore, all mainstream execution clients in the Mainnet status have verified that they possess the performance redundancy to handle blocks up to 80M Gas within the 4-second block time window.
