The socialist pitch always sounds compassionate at first. Free healthcare. Free college. Free benefits. Free housing. Free everything. But the question they never want to answer is simple, who pays? That is where the whole fantasy falls apart. Socialists, and most Democrats today, talk endlessly about fairness and equity, but they have almost no respect for the people who actually create wealth in the first place. Workers create value. Inventors create new tools and industries. Entrepreneurs build businesses. Risk takers put their savings, reputations, and futures on the line. Then the political class walks in, grabs the bill, and hands it to them. That is not compassion. That is legalized envy dressed up as moral virtue. They act as if wealth simply exists, as if money grows in some magical government vault, as if paychecks, profits, products, businesses, and jobs just appear out of thin air. They do not seem to understand, or maybe they simply do not care, that every dollar government redistributes first has to be taken from someone who earned it. And that is the con. They say it is about helping the poor, but somehow the bureaucracy always gets bigger. They say it is about fairness, but the same productive people always get punished. They say it is about equity, but what they really mean is control. The people who build, work, invent, hire, save, invest, and take risks are treated like an endless ATM for politicians and activists who produce nothing but slogans. This cartoon is funny because it is true, but it is also infuriating because this is exactly how the system works. The bottom line is simple, socialism does not create prosperity, it consumes it. And when the producers finally get tired of paying the bill, the whole restaurant closes.

@luisbaram I disagree. People need PHILOSOPHY. Religion is a type of philosophy. I take the position that a non-religious philosophy (Objectivism) fills the requirements for successful and happy living on earth.

Believing this would be a better world without religion is a spectacularly naive belief. Maybe some people don’t need religion to behave, but most do.

The socialist definition of fairness is fascinating: Getting rich through voluntary trade is exploitation. Taking from someone because they're rich is justice. A philosophy that can't distinguish trade from theft has no business lecturing anyone about fairness.
