Earlier this month, Sentebale Botswana, through its Adoloscent and Young People (AYP) Project, partnered with the Botswana School of Business Sciences to host a vibrant Wellness Expo for students. The AYP Project is dedicated to improving access to comprehensive HIV prevention services and information, promoting human rights, and addressing stigma and discrimination. It also focuses on increasing access to family planning and encouraging the consistent and correct use of condoms among young people. As such, the partnership provided an inclusive space for young people to access HIV prevention information, wellness services, and support and empowered students to make informed decisions while sparking open conversations around health and wellbeing. Sentebale remains committed to strengthening partnerships and ensuring young people in Botswana have the knowledge and support they need to thrive. #Sentebale #Bostwana #BotswanaSchoolofBusiness #WellnessExpo #HIVPrevention

Our health programmes are equally critical. Through HIV prevention, treatment literacy, and psychosocial support, we equip young women with the knowledge and tools to protect their health, reduce stigma, and take control of their futures. By strengthening their resilience and wellbeing, we help ensure they can pursue education, work, and opportunity with dignity. We believe and have seen evidence that when young women are supported to be healthy, skilled, and economically empowered, the gains extend far beyond the individual. As such, today we celebrate the power of investing in young women because when we give and share support, opportunity and knowledge with women, we all gain. #InternationalWomensDay #GiveToGain #Lesotho #Botswana

International Women’s Day is a global moment to celebrate the achievements of women and accelerate progress toward gender equality. This year’s theme, “Give To Gain,” highlights how giving women opportunities, resources, and support creates lasting benefits for entire communities. At Sentebale, we see this every day in our work in Lesotho and Botswana. By providing vulnerable young women with vocational and entrepreneurship training, business skills development, and support to secure internships or start their own ventures, we help unlock their potential to build independent and fulfilling livelihoods.

Operation Triple Zero Plus is an initiative launched with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and @UNICEFBotswana to better serve pregnant, breastfeeding, and young mothers - an extension of Operation Triple Zero which aims to achieve Zero missed doses, Zero missed appointments, and Zero viral load among adolescents and young people living with HIV. Capacitating frontline workers strengthens efforts on the ground and improves outcomes for young people. By the end of the training, the group developed clear action steps, including improved coordination across different sectors ensuring that young people living or affected by HIV have access to quality health services and receive the treatment they deserve. #Sentebale #DHMT #Botswana #HIVAwareness #TripleZeroPlus

Last week, Sentebale Botswana in collaboration with the The Tutume District Health Management Team (DHMT) held a two day training workshop to capacitate Health Education Assistants and stakeholders on HIV prevention & treatment strategies. The training included identifying practical steps to improve HIV outcomes for adolescents in the district, strengthen delivery of youth friendly services, multi-sectoral coordination and align district efforts in implementing Operation Triple Zero Plus.

Commemorated annually on 20 February, World Day of Social Justice calls on all of us to take concrete action to end poverty, promote equity, and build fairer, more inclusive societies. This year, the day is commemorated under the theme, "Renewed Commitment to Social Development and Social Justice" with one of the focuses on  promoting decent work for all - reminding us that young people must be equipped to navigate economic, climate, and technological change with dignity and opportunity. #Sentebale #WorldDayofSocialJustice #Botswana #Lesotho

To kickstart the year, Sentebale and other stakeholders participated in a boot camp in January at Ledumang Senior Secondary School and conducted a health talk at Naledi Senior Secondary School consecutively, empowering learners with accurate information to help them make informed, healthy decisions. We believe that when young people are empowered with health information they can have agency over their lives and fight to reduce the spread of HIV. #EmpoweredYouthHealthyFutures #AYP #Sentebale #Botswana #hivawareness

Botswana has one of the highest HIV prevalence rates in the world, with around one in five adults aged 15–49 living with HIV. In response to this epidemic, Sentebale's work in the region focuses on interventions to promote prevention, education and awareness amongst young people. As such, community health workers (CHWs) in Botswana continue to engage young people across various platforms, delivering vital messages on HIV prevention, human rights, and stigma reduction.

When not in use for Sentebale programmes, the Children’s Centre becomes an unforgettable venue for all forms of local or corporate events and gatherings, where every booking supports work that ensures that vulnerable children and young people from the community receive the support they need. We would like to thank our sponsors, Symantec Printing and Stationery for the delicious treats and @Cameramanlesotho for capturing the unforgettable day.

In the safety of Sentebale caregivers, each child was welcomed with popcorn, snacks so they could enjoy the international children's movie, Matilda, a childhood favourite which showcases strong themes of the vital importance of education, kindness and resilience in overcoming challenges. The Mamohato Children’s Centre is a community asset built on the ethos that every child deserves to be in a space where they can be children where support, and a sense of belonging are fundamental rights are easily accesible for every child.

We're still over the moon from the laughs and joy that were palpable at our movie day hosted in collaboration with the local community at the behest of Morena Moits'upeli Jobo last week Sunday. 🎬 🍿 😊 For the event, Sentebale Lesotho hosted 50 children aged 8 – 12years old to a free movie day at Mamohato Children’s Centre at Lihaseng Village in Thaba-Bosiu.

As January ended and February began, our Mamohato Children's Centre in Thaba Bosiu hosted an impactful training for young peer educators, coordinated by the National AIDS Commission in partnership with UNICEF and the Ministry of Health. Established just over a decade ago, the Mamohato Children's Centre is a unique event space suited to run life-changing programmes for children and young people. Following the training, the workshop participants will work alongside Sentebale peer educators in local communities to raise awareness about the prevention of new HIV infections, a key strategic focus for Sentebale in our efforts to strengthen the health and wellbeing of vulnerable children and young people.

The involvement of community leaders cannot be overstated as they influence attitudes and behaviours amongst their communities. Furthermore, their leadership is key to inclusion, dignity and human rights for all. We look forward to to more collaborations in pursuit of greater human rights awareness for all in Botswana. #Sentebale #Botswana #HumanRights #Stigma #Dignity #AYPStrong
