Jeffrey Epstein owned Little St. James in the US Virgin Islands, using it for alleged sex trafficking. USVI sued his estate in 2020 for fraud, trafficking, and exploitation, settling for $105M+; also sued JPMorgan Chase for enabling, settling for $75M. He avoided federal prosecution via a 2008 Florida non-prosecution agreement, pleading guilty to state charges and serving 13 months with work release. DOJ later found poor judgment but no illegality. Known CIA links: Met CIA Director William Burns (then deputy sec. of state) in 2014. Reports suggest Acosta was told Epstein "belonged to intelligence," though he denied it. Ties to Israeli intel have been alleged but remain unconfirmed.

BCCI had documented ties to the CIA, which used its accounts for covert operations like funding Afghan mujahideen and monitoring terrorism, per congressional reports. It operated a "bank within a bank" structure with compartmentalized units in tax havens like the Caymans for illicit dealings, including money laundering. Kamal Adham, Saudi intelligence chief (1965-1979), was a key BCCI shareholder and CIA liaison, fronting its U.S. acquisitions. He pleaded guilty in 1992 to related charges, paying a $105M fine.

Bear Stearns, founded in 1923, was a prominent U.S. investment bank known for securities trading and asset management. It collapsed in March 2008 amid the subprime mortgage crisis, facing a liquidity crunch from toxic assets. The Fed facilitated its sale to JPMorgan Chase for $10/share. BCCI (Bank of Credit and Commerce International), established in 1972, operated globally but was shut down in 1991 after regulators uncovered widespread fraud, money laundering for criminals and terrorists, and illegal banking practices, resulting in billions in losses.

Today my eldest received his Bachelor of the Arts (Latin)… I’m going to have to build some more storage space to pack away all this fatherly pride. He’s a little bit taller these days … and he’s got a beard and such … but, same wise before his years fella

A beloved cat whose potential eviction from Walthamstow Ambulance Station sparked city-wide outrage in 2024 has died. Defib was days away from being forced out after 16 years when a change of management deemed him an infection and allergy risk. Over 60,000 people signed a petition demanding the feline stay put, forcing former London Ambulance Service boss Daniel Elkeles to step in. Announcing the sad news on social media yesterday, paramedic Stephen Hines said: “You have no idea what it meant for him to stay home with the people that loved him. Thank you all for your support when he needed it.” RIP Defib 💔

My six-year-old son, Grant, was born with a large port-wine stain on his face. For most of his life, it never bothered him. But when kindergarten started, something changed. It wasn’t the mark that hurt him. It was the questions. “What happened to your face?” “What’s wrong with you?” Grant used to answer calmly, “It’s just a birthmark.” Lately, he says it with tired eyes—worn down from having to explain himself again and again, sometimes to people who don’t realize how painful their words can be. One medical worker even joked, “Oh, I thought you got punched.” Then something beautiful happened. One day at school, Grant went to the bathroom with a hall pass. A boy he had never met asked the same question. Grant gave the same answer. But this boy did something different. “Well,” he said, “your birthmark is really cool.” Then he asked, “Does it hurt your feelings when people talk about it?” Grant nodded. “Stick up for yourself, kid,” the boy said. That was it. No lectures. No pity. Just kindness. Grant came home glowing. The heaviness he had been carrying was suddenly gone. Someone had seen him—not as different, but as someone worth protecting. I cried for three days. I was determined to find that child and thank him. After weeks of searching, we did. His name is Tucker. I imagined he must be older—maybe fourth or fifth grade. Someone brave and confident. He was in first grade. His parents and teacher told me Tucker is shy, quiet, gentle. But he spoke up anyway, because he knows what unkind words can do. When he told his parents about his new friend, he didn’t even mention the birthmark. He said Grant had “white hair.” That’s how Tucker saw him. And that’s how hope looks. By Chris masters

No snacks today—because Mr. Rio the Bernese Mountain Dog has been running a full-time con job in this house. A month ago he slipped getting down from his favorite throne (the couch) and tweaked a paw. We did the whole thing: vet visit, treatment, and strict instructions—rest, monitoring, and a few gentle exercises. After that, I started my daily “inspection.” Short walk, quick look at the paw, and a treat as a reward—just to make sure everything was healing the way it should. Well… Rio took notes. Now he’s invented a new hobby: kitchen limping. The second I walk toward the kitchen, he magically remembers he’s “injured.” Limp appears out of nowhere like a light switch. I say, “Nice try, Rio—no treats today,” and he locks eyes with me like I’ve committed betrayal on a historic level… then turns the limp up to 110% in full Oscar-worthy “tragic dog” performance. And just when I thought I couldn’t be outplayed any harder… Yesterday he switched paws. I really believed I’d only get manipulated by humans. Turns out I live with a furry little actor.

I was standing in the checkout line at the grocery store. It was crowded and loud. My dog, Titus—a strong, focused Husky service dog—was sitting perfectly still beside me. His body was lightly pressed against my leg, his posture calm and steady, his eyes locked onto my face. He didn’t look away for even a second. A woman behind me tapped my shoulder sharply. “That dog needs a muzzle,” she snapped. “Look at the way he’s staring. He’s dangerous. It’s irresponsible to bring a dog like that into a store.” At that moment, the room started to spin. My vision narrowed, the warning signs hitting all at once. I knew I only had seconds. “He’s not staring because he’s aggressive,” I said, my voice shaking as I gripped Titus’s harness. “He’s staring because he knows something is wrong with me.” Then I collapsed. But I didn’t hit the floor. I landed on Titus. He had already braced his body, ready to catch me. When I came to, the paramedics were there. Titus was lying across my legs, using his body to create space, keeping everyone back. The woman was gone. “Good boy,” one of the EMTs said, gently patting his head. “He didn’t let anyone touch you until we arrived.” He wasn’t preparing to attack. He was prepared to do his job. He was prepared to protect my life. 🐕‍🦺🖤 Educate yourself before you judge. Service dogs come in all shapes and appearances—and they save lives. 🚑 Jasmine limb
