The Patriot system intercepted an incoming Iranian drone, but the interception caused an explosion over a populated area that injured civilians, while preventing a "drone strike and saving lives," the government's spokesperson said. The U.S. military previously reported that only an Iranian drone hit a residential neighborhood on March 9 and injured civilians.
