I’ve been kinda gone for a bit and I think I owe an explanation. I got into a relationship with someone I genuinely connected with we had similar interests, similar views, and we’re both autistic, so I thought there’d be understanding there. But things turned really unstable really fast. We kept breaking up and getting back together, and most of the time it wasn’t even because of something I did, it was just constant pressure, miscommunication, and sudden decisions on their end. The first big issue was over a friend I’ve known for 2 years. Our past wasn’t perfect, but I still saw her as someone important to me, like an older sister. He didn’t like her and wanted me to cut her off completely, even though a lot of what he said about her didn’t feel fully true or had no real proof. I tried to respect his feelings, but it turned into an “either me or her” situation, which I never wanted to be in. When I reached out to her again after feeling hurt, he broke up with me over it. We got back together, but the same problems kept happening. He wouldn’t communicate how he actually felt. I kept telling him I need clear communication because I struggle with reading emotions, and every time he’d just say “everything is fine” and then suddenly drop everything on me all at once later. He’d ghost me for days, and I always had to be the one to reach out. The second time we broke up, he said he “can’t love,” which honestly didn’t make sense to me after everything he had said and promised before. Talking about a future, meeting family, even marriage those aren’t things you say if you feel nothing. It felt like he gave up instead of trying to understand himself or work through things together. We got back together again briefly, and for a moment it felt normal. Then right after I opened up about something personal from my childhood, he suddenly said he wanted to see other people and ended things again. He told me I was “close” to opening his heart, but not enough. That hurt more than anything, because if I was that close, why not just… give it time? What made it harder is that he would talk about our relationship and his feelings with other people, but not with me. I was always the last to know how he actually felt. Now he’s completely cut me off, even as friends. I’m not perfect. I know that. But I was trying. I was willing to grow, communicate, and work through things together. It just felt like every time things got hard, he chose to walk away instead of staying and trying. I don’t hate him. I don’t want anything bad for him. I genuinely hope he figures himself out and treats the next person better, with honesty and clear communication. But yeah… that’s why I’ve been gone.
