- I'd make the biome more common under deserts by also adding larger sulfur pools (on the surface) to signal the presence of caves (I'd keep slime spawns only underground). - Sulfur could be an alternative for crafting gunpowder (?)

- Acid geysers + some sort of biome event where the pools bubble, causing stalactites to fall from the ceiling (rarely) - Adding an orange material to act as a transition between yellow and red; tuff can remain at the edges of the biome. - Sulfur/cinnabar minerals.
