What if our current approach to talent discovery is fundamentally limited because we're optimizing for the wrong signals? Been thinking about Peter Thiel's observation that exceptional talent often exhibits "zen-like opposites" – people who are simultaneously stubborn yet open-minded, or idiosyncratic yet collaborative. When you think about it, most recruiting systems are fundamentally designed to filter these people out. The standard process optimizes for neat, consistent career paths and "culture fit" (whatever that means). This is actually one of the core problems we're trying to solve with Titan at .@ValandorAI. What if the next breakthrough talent doesn't look like what the models predict? What signals are we missing by relying on conventional pattern matching? What I love about building Titan is that we're trying to algorithmically capture what great scouts do intuitively: spot the weird combinations of traits that predict outlier performance but don't fit into tidy recruiting checkboxes. Every founder I know has a story about their best hire being someone who looked terrible on paper but had that ineffable quality nobody could articulate.
