The Welsh Online Chess Championships start TOMORROW: welshchessunion.uk/OnlineChampion… The Closed Welsh Championships has only 8 entries, and it's a qualifier for the British! The Major has slightly more at 12, and the Minor only has 7! You have until midday today to enter!

Grzegorz Toczek (Cardiff and Poland) came first with 9/11 in the Welsh Blitz Chess Championship on Sunday in Pencoed. Paul Hatchett (Malpas) was the highest placed Welsh qualifying player and hence became Welsh Blitz Champion with 8/11.

The new Welsh Rapidplay Champions are Ian Jones (Morriston), Jonathan Gilbert (Cwmbran) and Tom Brown (Cardiff) after each scored 5/6 at Pencoed on Saturday. Congratulations!

The fourth round of the Welsh Premier League took place on Sunday with leaders, The Vale, crushing White Knights 5 1/2 - 1/2 to move two points clear at the top. Nidum are in second after beating Abergavenny narrowly. The top two have qualified for Europe with one round remaining

It is now less than three months to the big event! The South Wales International in Cardiff starts on the 7th July. There are 4 GMs currently signed up: Turner, Arkell, Chatalbashev and Petrov. #Cardiff

We are back and running! This weekend sees six Welsh premier league teams battling out at the same venue in Round 4: Melyncryddan Community Centre in, Neath. Come along and watch the action from 1.30 pm. Currently, "The Vale" are top of the league and are unbeaten.
