“Looks accurate to me” Here the actual skull vs the movie model from behind the scenes. It doesn’t match. I’m sure scientific advisors did their best, but you need actual paleo artists to do models if you want “accuracy”

@JoannaKobierska I think you're right for most instances, but practical effects can add a real level of physicality for close up shots and shots where people are touching something. The best looking films will be a seamless blend of both.

I don't understand people preferring practical effects. CGI looks better and is quicker and cheaper to produce. It has been such for a long time.

@WryCritic Interestingly, the science museum next door to my workplace (a nhm) has a lot of constant updating. I think it's just difference in donations and how funds are handled by institutions.

@WryCritic Which art museums? In my experience most museums are in similar funding boats. If anything, I guess more rich people are art collectors and therefore are more likely to donate their collections when they die or donate in general.
