I would disagree. I think many people don't want to be associated with people who don't want to associate with them. And discriminating based on sex or skin color is reprehensible. I don't want to be associated with such projects or people. As a potential contributor, if they don't want less straight, white men, then they want less of me. I'll oblige them. I don't go where I'm not wanted. As a user, I would worry that they if they're working to have fewer straight white men on the project, then they could be passing up good talent. Not because straight white men are necessarily going to be better than others. But if they are ruling certain people out based on skin color or sex, regardless of merit... they could be passing on someone who happens to be extraordinarily good... again, not because of their skin color or sex, just because they happen to be a good (or great) developer. But in the end, the biggest thing that will turn good people away is still the bare fact they are happy advertising that they discriminate on sex and skin color. Reprehensible.

@YinzerDev @LundukeJournal I think thankfully most people don't care about these things and simply want to focus on the technical stuff that interest them. If they see or hear something stupid they might eyeroll and get back to doing what they want to be doing, which is unlikely to overlap.

Debian Linux has elected a new (DEI focused) Debian Project Leader. Sruthi Chandran beat her only opponent (the aptly named "None of the above") by a vote of 289 to 50. Sruthi Chandran's platform centered on "Diversity" and her desire to see fewer "(cis)male" people involved in the Debian project. Only 33% of eligible Debian Developers chose to vote in this election. And 50 of those voted for "None of the above".

Kudos to the New York Post for being the only major outlet to get this right. The SPLC were paying the leaders. By definition, leaders cannot be informants. They run the operation. It is like paying the leader of Auschwitz to inform on who is carrying out the gassings instead of paying him to stop the gassings. It is perhaps the most grotesque, cynical, and pernicious racket ever devised. Of course, plenty of groups extract money from taxpayers and well-meaning donors off problems they inflate, but this is far worse because it breeds real hatred and manufactures racial division to keep the grift alive.
