New Jersey’s NJ Transit is currently planning to charge more than $100 for return rail tickets from New York’s Pennsylvania Station to MetLife Stadium for FIFA World Cup games. According to people familiar with the plans, who asked to remain anonymous in order to protect relationships, a return ticket purchased via NJ Transit, New Jersey’s transportation provider, is currently modelled for more than a seven-fold increase from its usual prices during the World Cup this summer. The 18-mile rail journey, which includes a stop at Secaucus station, ordinarily costs $12.90 for a return ticket — the same pricing for the FIFA Club World Cup final last summer. 🧵🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿After meeting local organisers, here is a thread of early info for any fans looking to plan travel to and from games at the World Cup. 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐯 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚 - 𝐃𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐬 Fans are likely to be staying all around the North Texas area, particularly Dallas and Fort Worth. If you are staying in Dallas or Fort Worth, you can purchase a ticket and travel on the Trinity Railway Express (TRE) towards the Centreport Station. From there, a free bus service will run to and from the stadium for ticket holders. Rideshare options such as Uber will drop off near the eSports Stadium, with around a 15-20 minute walk to the Dallas stadium. With Fort Worth 16 miles away, and downtown Dallas 20 miles, taxis are likely to be more expensive, and traffic quite heavy. ESTC ticket holders will be located in sections towards the east of the stadium, just off AT&T way. ‘Hydration Stations’ will be placed along the route to the stadium from both the bus and taxi drop offs. Local organisers were keen to stress the likelihood of intense heat, so keep yourselves hydrated! For fans there early enough, we’d recommend heading towards Texas Live, an indoor and outdoor space with plenty of food and drink, located in between the Choctaw Stadium and the Globe Life stadium. The official but very expensive parking can be booked through the FIFA website, although other options around Arlington may be available if you plan ahead or arrive early, although given how busy it is likely to be, we wouldn’t advise leaving it to late and to chance. We would highly recommend leaving plenty of time, at least 120 mins, to get to the stadium from either downtown area. Bus services will start 5 hours before kick off, and will run up to 3 hours after the game.

The USMNT 🇺🇸 and Pochettino set the bar as low as they can for the World Cup, at this point not getting grouped will be a relief. Winning 1 knockout game will be considered a major success. What a disappointment, this generation is an embarrassment, we had high hopes… but that ship has sailed. Oh well, next stop the World Cup.
