I’ve consulted with hundreds of people on advertising. One of the first things I ask them is, ‘What are you willing to pay to acquire a customer?’ Usually, they come back with something like 10% of what their front end offer is worth. So, if a customer buys their $37 offer, they say they’re cool spending “no more than $4” to get that customer. And honestly? That’s just not realistic from an ad cost perspective… AND it’s short sighted… A front end product’s purpose is to liquidate your adspend so that you’re essentially paying “nothing” to fill your funnel with buyers who are qualified for your “higher ticket.” Let’s do some math. If you pay Facebook $40 per customer and you spend $4,000 to acquire 100 BUYERS. Sure, you’re a little out of pocket … but if just 1 person buys your $5k product on the backend (MORE will if your front end is really good,) you’re sitting pretty. I’d do that deal all day long. If you’re willing—and able—to pay more to acquire a customer than your competitors, guess what? You win in the long run. Like Warren Buffett says, *‘Price is what you pay. Value is what you get.’* The price you pay to acquire a customer is just a number, but the value that customer brings to your business is what truly matters. If you’re focused on the long-term value rather than just the upfront cost, you won’t hesitate to invest more in acquiring the right customers.
